Most guests choose to spend the majority of their stay lounging in the vast stone courtyard of Trulli Lagorio, surrounded by green slopes and olive groves. The garden is completed with a heated pool, with outdoor shower and paved solarium, perfectly positioned for lush views over the valley. There is also a BBQ, stone pizza oven and roof terrace perfect for al-fresco dining with a chilled glass of wine on a warm Mediterranean evening.
The high standard of this renovation is apparent throughout, with a modern kitchen with a wood burning stove, 4 double bedrooms, and Wifi internet connection throughout. The privacy afforded by the distinctive trullo layout and the multiple levels of the garden make this rental an ideal choice for a large family holiday.

Features

5 Bedrooms:
Bedroom 1 - Extra large double Bed, wardrobe, chest of draws
Bedroom 2 - Twin beds, wardrobe, chest of draws
Bedroom 1 and 2 are both in the main trullo and have ceilings which are straddled by old timbers and rise dramatically up to the top of the cones creating lovely light and airy rooms.

Bedroom 3 - Extra large double Bed, two chest of draws and hanging space
Bedroom 4 - Bunk beds
Bedroom 3 and 4 are in a second trullo off the main courtyard. Bedroom 3 has doors onto the courtyard and leads into Bedroom 4 which then leads onto an en suite bathroom.

Bedroom 5 - Extra large double Bed, chest of draws, hanging space.
Bed 5 is reached by climbing the external stairs to the roof of the house.

Bathrooms:
One shower room and one small bathroom in main house, en suite shower room in outbuilding.
The first shower room is in the area main trullo sleeping area (bedrooms 1 & 2). The second shower room is in the second trullo off the main courtyard (bedrooms 3 & 4). The additional WC is located off the dining area. Bedroom 5 does not have a bathroom (The room can only be accessed via an external staircase.) There is also an outside shower near the pool on the side of the outbuilding.
Kitchen:
Fully equipped kitchen includes five burner gas hob, large oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher. Cafetiere, hob espresso maker, kettle and hob kettle. There is a washing machine in the laundry room across the courtyard.

Dining Room:
Barrel vaulted dining room, table seats ten comfortably when extended. Double doors and French windows to exterior. High chair stored in cupboard in sitting room.

Living Rooms:
Large sofa and armchair. Under two trullo cones, one of which is raftered in. Original double doors and double French windows to exterior.
There is a coned trullo room immediately behind the dining room (via a large internal arch which can be used as an occasional sixth bedroom is required). TV and DVD player, kitchen with wood-burning stove.

Outside:
The 10m x 6m pool (2m deep in the deepest end) was refurbished in 2017 with traditional stone paving all round and a large sunbathing area to one side with sunbeds and various smaller seats etc. The pool is securely fenced off. Land of approximately one acre boasts numerous fruit trees (fig, cherry, apricot, chestnut, apple, pomegranate, prickly pear), olives, wisteria, bouganvillea, oleanders etc. Dry stone wall around courtyard. Very large courtyard in front of house, mainly covered in old stone. Table and chairs in a shaded area. Further stone paved areas leading to pool and parking area.

Linen/maid service:
Towels and linen provided, linen changed weekly if staying for a 2 week period. Large pool towels are also provided.

Notes:
There is no air-conditioning as most of the bedrooms are in their own trullo cone which remain cool during the summer months. Central heating is available for the cooler months.

Location

Trulli Lagorio is found at the end of a secluded country lane with beautiful views across the valley.
It is only 3km from Locorotondo, a beautiful old town with loads of character, majestic churches and fantastic wine producing estates.
The local restaurants serve superb antipasti and a wide range of dishes, from seafood fresh from the sea at the numerous seaside restaurants to fresh pasta, pizza and gorgeous regional meat and vegetarian dishes, all served with traditional Italian hospitality and the full-blooded local wine all at very reasonable prices!

 Doesn’t it this place makes you feel happier? I love the stunning colors brought to this light, airy home. It certainly makes it feel more alive.

Talking about happiness, I hope you’re feeling happy today, but if not, put everything that is bothering you aside. Maybe you’re forgetting to look at the good things in life and is putting too much of your energy and health towards the bad stuff.

When was it the last time you said “That’s it! I will think about myself right now”? We tend to always focus on people, on how they’re feeling, on how they’re doing or on how things are going and we rarely stop to thing about HOW WE ARE.

Take this day to look at yourself. Look in the mirror and only say what you love about yourself. Do not allow any criticism to come to your mind. Say all the things you can remember that you have accomplished in life. Try to remember all the details, from childhood, to your teenager years to this day.

4Space requirements for furniture
The usefulness of a dwelling highly depends on the way it is furnished. Well organised furniture will increase the usefulness of the dwelling. The following outline with measurements of furniture can be of help to make useful furniture planning. The outline will provide measurement on commonly used furniture and the required free space around the furniture, when they are used and space required for cleaning. Hall way / Entrance A wardrobe or a rack with hangers for 4 persons requires min. 600 x 1200 mm, and a chest of drawers approx. 400 x 800 mm plus free space in front approx. 900 mm. The hall should have a free floor area of at least 1300 x 1300 mm. Bedrooms The size of a bed is approx x 900 mm. Besides that a free space of 700mm along the bed is required. Space required in total 2100 x 1600 mm. 700mm as free floorspace along the bed is not much for cleaning. With 1000 x 1200 mm cleaning becomes much easier. A combined bed- and living room for one person should have a width om min. 2400mm and a floor area of at least 10m2 to give reasonable possibilities for organising furniture in the room. There should be at least 900mm free space in front of wardrobes/cabinets and table to allow space for cleaning and movement.

(without windows or doors) Placed parallel two beds including free space occupy at least 2700 x 2100 mm. Two beds placed at an angle should be spaced with a distance of at least 600mm toallow space for cleaning and doing the bed. Total space required for such two beds is approx x 2100mm.

6Arrangement of bedroom
Here are 3 examples of room for one person. The floor area is 8, 10 and 12 m2 The examples illustrate how much can be achieved by increasing the floor area with a few m2.

7Living rooms A sofa and two easy chairs require approx x 3000mm, with three chairs approx x 3000mm and with four chairs approx x 3000mm. In a common living room there should be at leat 3000mm wall space for chest of drawers, bookscase and shelves etc., where books, papers,tv, radio and taperecorder can be placed. An ordinary office desk requires approx. 800 x 1600mm plus space for a chair 900mm, in total 1700 x 1600 mm. A small desk requires approx. 600 x 1200mm plus space for a chair 900mm, in total approx x 1200mm

8Dining area A dining area for 4 persons require approx x 2400mm and for 8 persons approx x 2400mm. Additionally 600mm space for passage should be included at one table end. A dining area with a round table for 4 – 6 persons require approx x 2800mm. If extended for 8 persons the space required is approx x 3400mm. Additional space should be included for passage on at least one side of the table.

9How the individual rooms can be arranged
The possibilities of arranging furniture in a room depends on the size and shape of the room as well as the placement of windows and doors. A room with sizes of approx. 3 x 4 m kan be utilised in a number of ways. For example as bedroom, living room or dinning room.

10Kitchen equipment Kitchen
In a dwelling for persons there should be approx. 4 m work top including cooker and refrigerator, and in an dwelling for 4 – 6 persons the length shuold be approx. 4 – 5 m. Regardless of the kitchen type and shape the best working sequence is aquired when the individual workplaces and work tops in principal are arranged as shown on fig. 1, with dish washing area at the left side. The closet for broom can be placed outside the kitchen, for example in the scullery or entrance room. Also the fridge can be placed outside the kitchen. 14Bathroom equipment and arrangement
Bathrooms To ensure a reasonable free floor space and space for cleaning in the bathroom, there should be a free distance of at least 1100mm in front of sanitary equipment. In an extra WC – room a free distance of 600 – 800 mm could be acceptable, but the space is limited and cleaning difficult. Passage With a free area of 600mm one can pass between two pieces of furniture or between a piece of furniture and wall. If 900mm is available one can pass carrying a tray or a bucket and a broom. Areas with intensive traffic, for example between two doors, or between a sofa and a dining place or along a staircase, should be at least 1000mm wide.

15Examples on how bathrooms can be arranged

16Placing of Doors The way a door is placed and the space it occupies when opened, has great influence on the way the room can be furnished and arranged. A door placed close to the corner of a room can be left open without interupting anything. With a distance of 400mm from the corner there is space for a bookcase or shelf behind the door. With 700mm distance a wardrobe or closet can be fixed behind the door. If the distance is 1000mm between door and a corner, it will be possible to place a bed next to the door and if there is 1500mm there could also be room for a bed table. A distance of 2200mm between door and corner allows a bed or sofa to be placed along the wall.

17User requirement check list
Entrances is protection from weather provided at entrances? is there space in hall for receiving visitors? is there convenient storage for outdoor clothing & pram? can meters be read without entering living area Living area is there space for required furniture in sensible arrangement? is there sufficient space to seat guests in dinning area? does living room face private garden? Kitchen is there direct access, on same level, from kitchen to dinning area? is work surface adequate, free from interruption & obstruction? is work triangle (sink, cooker – refrigerator) compact and free from cross – circulation? has possible use of kitchen by elderly or disabled people been considered? is there space for additional equipment or large items likely to be used in future? has kitchen view of outside world – for callers, toddlers play etc.? Bedroom is there space for required furniture in sensible arrangements – consider use of beds? can bedroom be used for child’s homework, entertaining friends & hobbies? What you get

Multi-glass paned French doors open to a spacious dining room with double crown molding and detailed bump boards. Two-built-in, lighted corner cabinets as well as shadowbox wainscoting are classy traditional touches. Seating eight to 10-plus for dinner is very easy in this elegant room. Recessed ceiling lights are another plus.

More upstairs

Like the rest of the house, the master suite exemplifies good planning. Yes, the sleeping chamber is big enough for a king-sized bed and even though the entire house has central air conditioning, an attractive ceiling fan provides an excuse to open the windows and enjoy soft summer night breezes.

A big walk-in closet (lighted, of course) is a great perk.

Recently remodeled/renovated, the en suite bathroom is a head-turner — especially the large walk-in shower with a rain shower head that has modified barn sliding doors (in glass). These are simply stunning.

Two sinks, a tile floor and an in-bath linen closet demonstrate that "practical" was not overlooked.

Of the three remaining bedrooms on this level, one is big with a double closet and the other is really big. This huge space has an extra wide double closet and is very bright. A slightly smaller bedroom — think office/nursery — has an oversized double closet but its view of the back yard makes this a most desirable spot.

The shared full bathroom with a tub/shower combination is another nicely sized space. Two sinks make this user friendly too. A large linen/medicine closet is an added convenience.

A pull-down, stand up attic great for storage is accessible from this level.

Let us not forget …

The fully finished lower level has several surprises. One is a huge office with a wrap-around desk and custom built-in cabinetry. Another finished room works as a play room or exercise space. However, inasmuch as this level has a large closet and a full bathroom with a stand-up shower, creating an in-law or au pair suite are certainly other options.

Bayview Cottage Prices from £455pw to £1025pw in high season.

Situated in Penrice Village. Sleeps 6-7. Private parking. Gas central heating. A typical detached Gower cottage overlooking the village green. It has a lovely enclosed garden with wonderful sea views. Beamed ceilings and an open fireplace, flat screen tv and DVD.

One double bedroom, one twin bedded room, one single room and a single room with a pull out bed.

The stable outside has a ping pong table and darts board and there is an outside additional toilet.

Church Cottage Penrice Village prices from £355pw to £870pw in high season. Sleeps 4. Gas central heating.

Church Cottage is the oldest of all the Penrice cottages. It is on the green facing the church. The village clockmaker used to live here. It has a lot of old fashioned charm and atmosphere with a lovely enclosed cottage garden and large grounds.

One double bedded room and a twin bedded room with a downstairs bathroom with shower over bath. Open fire the dining hall and a cosy sitting room with beams and a flat screen tv and DVD.

Penrice Old Farmhouse Prices from £580 to £1320 in high season.

Sleeps 8. Gas-fired central heating. An imposing detached large farmhouse with extensive lawns and attractive outbuildings, including a listed Granary on staddle stones. A good holiday home for families who like plenty of space. This house also has the added advantage of an additional second sitting room and a games room where table tennis, darts are available.

Two king size bedded rooms and two twin bedded rooms. One bathroom and one shower room.

Back Field - Prices from £525 to £1195 in high season. Three bedrooms, sleeps up to 6.

Originally Back Field belonged to the adjoining Penrice Old Farmhouse as the animal sheds. During 2008 the property has been lovingly converted into top quality holiday accommodation. It is an 'L' shaped property with a very interesting exposed vaulted ceiling. There is a large kitchen/dining room and a good sized sitting room with a log burner and a flat screen television. The bedrooms have en-suites, two with baths with showers above and one of the doubles has a shower room. Both the doubles have king size beds. The house is light and bright with a mix of old and modern. Outside there is a large lawned area, a small patio with seating and a barbecue. There is a separate driveway to that of Penrice Old Farmhouse and a fence between the two properties. The garden is quite private with seasonal views across Penrice Top Park. Short breaks are available form October to Easter but not school holidays. Ideal property for children and the elderly as it is all on one level.

The Towers- New for 2010 is a one bedroom gatehouse that looks like a mini- norman castle. Both the bedroom and sitting-room are round as they are located in the tower itself. Local Area:

Oxwich Bay, which lies in front of Penrice Castle, has a beautiful enclosed sandy beach that stretches east for about two miles from the village of Oxwich.

Cottage visitors have free parking for the beach, which is owned by the Penrice Estate and is ideal for swimming, fishing, waterskiing and windsurfing. Oxwich beach is the only bay in South Gower that allows dogs during the summer months. The secluded church on the rocks by the bay is one of the most romantic spots in the whole of Gower. There are tennis courts available within the grounds of the Estate for visitors use and fishing and a small rowing boat is available on the lake by prior arrangement with the owner.

Between the beach and Penrice Castle is Oxwich Marsh, a National Nature Reserve which is interesting for bird-watchers and nature lovers. Recent sightings have included the extremely rare Dartford Warbler.

Other attractions in the area include several golf courses, many other nature reserves and some wonderful castles and gardens. There are also numerous attractions for children in and around Swansea. Good pubs and restaurants are all nearby.

Area information

Gower was the first Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty, and has hardly changed since. There are beautiful beaches all within a short distance. Some fanatstic moorland and woods suitable for long walks. What could be better than at the end of your walking enjoying lunch in one of the local country pubs we have to offer. If you are into watersports there are beaches for surfing, wind surfing, swimming and boating plus lots more. Oxwich also has a company called Euphoria which hires out specialist water equipment, and Oxwich Beach was voted Best Beach in Britan by the Travel Magazine in 2007. Boat rides around the peninsula are always very popular and there is plenty of wildlife to see. Birdwatching, horse riding and golf are also very popular in the area. On a rainy day then just 30 mins away is Swansea itself, with art galleries, museums, a new leisure centre, marina,ten pin bowling, cinemas and of course one of the biggest indoor markets in Britain plus all of the usual department stores and lots of smaller shops.

Mumbles, a few miles from Swansea, is also great for individual shopping with lots of boutiques and restaurants plus the famous Joe's icecream parlour.

Local attractions

Penrice Estate owns Oxwich Bay which was voted the best beach in Britain 2007. We have a lovely sandy beach which is safe for children. There is a large car park which is free to our guests. Euphoria watersports work from the beach providing boat trips, wind surfing, water skiing and many more activities. Ideal for families there are two beach shops supplying snacks etc and toilets available. There is also a hotel on the beach offering bar meals.

At Perriswood just 5 minutes away there is an Archery centre that also has a number of birds.

Parkmill Heritage centre has plenty to offer for the younger members of the family and is no more than 10 minutes drive.

Catering

We have an in-house chef who will prepare meals which can be delivered to your cottage and be waiting for you in the fridge on your arrival. A menu can be supplied on request of the delicious dishes Julie can prepare. Food is available on a Tuesday and a Friday.

Payment information

Gas and the electricity are included in the price, as are the logs for the fires. We also supply all bed linen except cot linen. A travel cot and high chair are included in the cost. Additional cot and high chair sets are £10 extra. Dogs, a maximum of two, are £10 each per week. Towels are not supplied normally but are available to overseas visitors at a cost of £5 per set (one bath and one hand towel). Full use of the park and gardens at Penrice Estate and free entry to Oxwich Beach car park is also included. If more than 6 weeks before arrival a one third deposit is taken on a debit card. If less than 6 weeks before we take full payment.

M/Y SHERAKHAN is the culmination of a dream for her owner. Whether it be the luxury dining room for 22 guests with its massive 7m Atrium bathed in natural light filtered down through the glass bottomed Spa Pool. (Seating 18) or the Joy of standing in the lookout house perched above the sundeck a massive 20m above the water line. Suites range from 30-50 square meters and are impressive for their decor, style and of course sheer size.

A note by the designer…

Main Deck:

Once you set foot on the gangway, you will be surprised by the beautiful details, the enormous deck areas, astonishing woodwork and the incredible choice of outside furniture! We are sure you have never experienced a view as marvelous as the one from the look-out house. The Spa Pool is very big (18 people)and of course we have a complete B.B.Q. area

When you finally come inside, you will be surprised by the beam of the yacht. The main saloon is about 20 meters long and 9 meters wide. The style is cozy and, what we think is the most important, homely. Every single guest on MY Sherakhan must immediately have the feeling that this is their home and can relax the way they want!

The main saloon is visually divided into two areas;
On one side we find the dining area; with a beautiful table, where 22 people can be seated. On both sides of the dining table there are 2 impressive stairs which will lead you to the owner’s deck. When you sit at the dining table and look up, you will be impressed by the atrium. You can look completely to the roof of the yacht where the Spa Pool with glass bottom is situated. The enormous chandelier is of course specially designed for this area of 7 meters of height.

The other side of the saloon is furnished to relax. Nice cozy couches, homely armchairs, enormous vases, a fireplace, a flat screen television, a bar where you can sit down to enjoy your drinks and of course a little podium with a white grand piano. Although the area is big, you will never have the chance to feel “lost”. From this area you have a nice view on the aft deck where the outside dining table is situated.

When you walk through this area and pass the dining table, you will enter the vestibule. Here you can choose to go down to the beauty saloon and the suites on the accommodation deck or even go to the fitness-massage, sauna and Spa Pool on the lower deck. When you go straight on from the vestibule, you will first meet the ladies room on one side and on the other side the library. After passing a door, you will come to the corridor on which at either side 2 spacious suites are situated. All four of them have sizes like 38 square meters with an en-suite bathroom which have baths and showers as well. (The size of 38 m2 is only the suite; it does not include the bathroom!)

The suites:

Our feeling about a big yacht is that also the suites must be large! When guests want to have some privacy, not only during the night…, they must experience all the luxury of a 5 star accommodation and of course be surrounded by a nice furnished and decorated ambiance.
All the double beds are king size. All suites are equipped with a television, DVD, stereo, mini bar, safe, air-conditioning/ heating, a vanity table/desk, a computer point, relaxing chairs, saloon table, a very spacious walk-in closet, bathroom with toilet, bidet, bath (Spa Pool), double basin and shower. On the art impression you have some idea of the style which will be fitted in these areas. The way the woodwork is done, is astonishing! Nice and with unexpected details…..

Accommodation deck:

On the accommodation deck, you will find 4 suites. The smallest will be 34 m2 and the biggest 37,3 m2. They will be fitted just like all the others. Of course there will be differences in colors and decorations, but not in luxury! You also will find a children’s themed cabin, (Only designed for children! So no access for people above the age of 13! Little people also have the right to have their own party…….) and a security cabin. These cabins are connected with the 2 suites next door, but can also be used completely separately.

The last area of importance on this deck is the beauty saloon.
The beauty saloon is also fully equipped hair- and nail studio. So the guests can be pampered as much as they want!

Lower deck:

When you walk down the stairs, at the end of the corridor on the accommodation deck, you will enter a world of body pleasure! First take a drink at the bar to get used to the idea of exercise, then some fitness on the most modern equipment, followed by a well-deserved massage, going into the sauna to give your body the most precious rest and end up in the Spa Pool to cool down! What more can a person wish for…..?

Apart from all the equipment available here, the area in which this is situated is a feast for the eyes. Because of its location, completely in the front of the ship, below decks, the area is build like an American loft. Something like this hasn’t been shown before, fantastic mosaics will amaze you.

Owners deck:

We leave this deck and follow our “tour” to the saloon on the owners deck. The one you can reach from the vestibule on the main deck or with the stairs besides the dining table. When you come by the 2 enormous stairs, your attention will be attracted by the spectacular view down on the dining table. There is a vacant space of 6 meters long and 3 meters wide! In this way, the areas are not completely separated but in a creative way connected with each other. The saloon is further furnished with exclusive and comfortable chairs, a bar with an integrated piano and a dance floor for the people who cannot control their feet! During the day time, this area will be quite popular! It is great for reading and relaxing when the sun is too hot or having a drink or playing some chess. During the night this saloon will be perfect for having swinging cocktails before dinner. In the meantime the crew can set a wonderful decorated table and the guests will be surprised when they walk down the stairs to enjoy their dinner!

Besides the saloon, this deck contains 2 suites of 31 m2 and 1 Master Cabin of almost 51 m2! This deck is completely outfitted for the owner with a huge study. Like the name reveals, this will be a Masterpiece! Located completely in the front of the ship, with an amazing view over the sea, this cabin has even its own terrace! The major Spa Pool will be in the middle of the room, apart from the bathroom. The special effect of this cabin must be seen to be believed!

The outer deck on the owners deck will have comfortable chairs, footstools and even table lamps for the people who want be outside at night and enjoy a good book or just want to sit in silence and enjoy the stars………
On every outer deck there will be music, when wanted.

Wheelhouse-deck:

The last deck is the wheelhouse deck. You can reach this deck from the corridor on the owners deck or from outside. On this deck the wheelhouse is situated, but the most important of all……..the Spa Pool, loads of deck chairs, a bar, a B.B.Q. area, shade for the burnt ones and of course the look-out house!!!! Between the 2 funnels, we created a real look-out house. Once you are up there, you will be taken by surprise!!! The height of this location will be 20 meters above the waterline, so you can easily imagine what sort of view you can have up there! A 360° view for the star watchers; this is the ultimate spot…

2014 Refit

In 2014 ICON Yachts were commissioned to refit the impressive 1945 Gross Tonnage luxury mega yacht Sherakhan. She received a new exterior paint system and new generators. During her brief visit to the ICON yard she underwent a thorough systems service and maintenance campaign. The project was managed by Verkerk Yachting Projects.
