I am very choosy about shower gels. It already feels hot in Kolkata, and it is the time to try a summer-perfect shower gel. As I prefer good smelling shower gels, I picked this H2O+ Raspberry Guava Bath Gel. This one won my heart easily with its lovely fragrance.

I know it’s stupid, but I want my shower gels to have good packaging. This one comes in a lovely, cute red and pink large tube with a clear white cap. The tube is quite big for it contains 250ml of product. This is quite heavy to carry. Otherwise, the packaging is totally leakage proof and nice. The MRP of this product is a little high, but it is always available on discounts. So, it is worth a buy for me.
Once you open the cap, you can smell a strong fragrance of berries. It’s an attractive fragrance, but can be a little overpowering for some people. I am a fan of this kind of scents. This smell makes my day energetic and beautiful. It smells extremely beautiful during application and it also stays on for long on me. If you want a shower gel that smells good, this one is for you.
The shower gel has a silky, medium-creamy consistency. It looks white creamy. It is not runny, which makes it easy to use, and the product doesn’t get wasted too. I need a small amount of product to lather nicely. One tube lasts really long. It lathers perfectly which I really like about my shower gel. This H2O+ shower gel works nice as a body cleanser. It cleanses my body nicely and deeply removes all the dirt from body.
As I sweat a lot, I need a deep cleansing body wash, and it works just perfectly on me. It makes my skin soft and nourished. It is a good skin conditioner. It never makes my skin dry and it suits my dry skin well. I always use a moisturizer after shower, but even if I forget to use a moisturizer, my skin doesn’t feel dry. It makes my skin smooth and healthy. But it feels slippery after wash which might irritate some people.
After using this, my skin feels smooth, soft and silky. The softness stays on for long also. I have dry skin on my body, this wash provides a healthy glow to my body. It doesn’t make me feel sweaty or greasy after shower. This is a great shower gel for summers, and is meant for all skin types. I am just addicted to this gel and to its scent.

Saturday April 22 is Earth Day, and it’s more important than ever to do things to help protect the environment and to advance science to that end. I actually remember the first Earth Day oh so long ago. It was a very big deal because so little was being done at that time to protect our air, water and earth. Many years later, some things have improved but others not so much.
Using earth and body-friendly products is a small way to do something to help our planet and ourselves, hopefully while doing other more impactful things to protect Mother Earth.
Today, I’d like to talk about a new-to-me brand, Reverie Farms & Soaps.
Reverie Farms and Soaps
I discovered Reverie Farms and Soaps very recently. A few weeks ago, in fact.
Reverie Farms is an actual family farm located in Argyle Texas, not too far from Dallas-Fort Worth. I have a friend who lives in nearby Denton TX, so I hope someday I’ll have a chance to visit the farm myself. They have tours!
In addition to making natural and organic soaps, other bath and body products and laundry soap, they sell their own farm fresh eggs, Nigerian Dwarf Goats and Anatolian Shepherd dogs. How cool is that?!

I’m a bespoke soap fiend so I was thrilled to get a chance to try out their bar soap and their foaming hand soap.
The Reverie Farms natural organic based bar soap is biodegradable, vegan friendly, and made with organic oils of sunflower and/or safflower, coconut, and sustainably sourced palm, essential oils, and rosemary extract. The sunflower, safflower, coconut, and palm oils are certified organic ingredients.
Importantly, the bar soap is NOT made with artificial ingredients like synthetic fragrances, dyes or preservatives. Reverie Farms uses organically grown products whenever possible. The soaps are scented only with essential oils, and they are colored with organic herbs and plant extracts. The soap base recipe is made from 100% certified organic oils.

I am currently using Citrus Fusion. It has a mild citrus scent that that is gender neutral. It makes just the right amount of lather, and though it is hydrating, it isn’t greasy. Unlike some of the other hydrating bar soaps that I use that make the bottom of my tub really slippery, Reverie Farms Citrus Fusion does not.
The 4 oz. bar soap priced at $6 is a large bar that is going to last me a long time. Some bar soap seems to melt away in the shower, but this one doesn’t. Plus it fits perfectly on my soap saver. Frankly, I wish I had purchased my soap saver from Reverie Farms because theirs is more affordably priced at $3.50.

Natural Foaming Hand Soap
I like to keep liquid soap on my bathroom vanity and at the kitchen sink. Lately I’ve been getting into foaming soaps because they’re ready to go when you pump. I was happy to get to try Reverie Farms Natural Foaming Hand Soap. Importantly, the pump itself is wide which makes it easy to pump. The soap comes out in a rich but delicate foam.
Like the bar soap, it is a biodegradable, natural organic-based soap that is biodegradable, vegan friendly, and made with organic oils of sunflower* and/or safflower*, and coconut*, vegetable glycerin*, rosemary extract and essential oils (the * means certified organic ingredient). Formulated for sensitive skin. It feels smooth and moisturizing, though with my dry hands I always follow up with hand cream after I wash my hands. It has no synthetic detergents or preservatives, parabens, and it is Non-GMO.
The foaming hand soap is available in several scents:
I am using Sandalwood. Like the bar soap, it is a mild, gender neutral scent. The Natural Foaming Hand Soap plastic pump bottle contains 8 oz. and is priced at $6.25.
Other Products
As I mentioned, Reverie Farms also sells Body Scrub in 4 oz. jars in about 6 different scents for $6.25 as well as Natural Liquid Laundry Soap in 32 oz. bottles for $9.00. I’d like to try them both next. I really could use the Natural Liquid Laundry Soap because it’s good for sensitive skin, and it is perfect for delicates like my new silk pillowcase.

I am a sucker for shower gels. I have dry to combination skin, and find that most bathing soaps dry out my skin, even in summers. Most bathing soap brands available in India have been tried by me; and barring a very few of them, I find most of them unsuitable. They tend to further dry out my skin; making entire body moisturisation necessary every time. I have had a good time with shower gels. Some time back, when I was abroad on a holiday, I was about to run out of my shower gel and I decided to give this one a try. The brand is Clarins (which is one of my most trusted brands); and this one has many essential oils in it. Hence the purchase; the use of the shower gel; and this particular review of the product.
About the product:
Get every inch of body skin into sleek, show-off shape — toned, refined and beautifully conditioned! This concentrated cleansing treatment activates with the heat of a warm bath or shower — releasing the invigorating, aromatic virtues Rosemary, Mint and Geranium. Extracts of Gentian and Pine cleanse and refine. Lightweight lather is gentle enough for the most sensitive skin. Follow with Tonic Body Treatment Oil and Toning Body Balm for sensational firming results. Dermatologist tested.
How to apply:
In the bath, pour a capful of product under running water (maximum temp. 37°C/98.6°F). Spread foam all over the body and inhale deeply to benefit from the aromatic properties. In the shower, use with a sponge.

Clarins is one of my most trusted brands. It makes many fine skin care and make-up products; which are very gentle and good for even the most sensitive skin types. The SA at the Clarins counter was gushing about this product. This product is a special Spa product; which will cleanse your skin and rejuvenate your senses. I bought this; and an Eye and Lip Makeup Remover from the counter.
The packaging is the usual clean and hygienic looking Clarins –White box with Red print packaging. All the details are written on it; as well as on an information leaflet inserted inside the box.
The bottle inside is made of plastic; with a flip cap opening and a tiny hole. The bottle is transparent; and contains a golden yellow colored shower gel. The consistency of the shower gel is just perfect; neither too thick nor too runny. The fragrance is that of the essential oils; and though I am not very fond of this herbal fragrance; I don’t mind it either. It does not remain on the skin for a long time. The shower concentrate foams quite well; and the foam may be increased by using it with a loofah or sponge. Only a very small amount of product is needed during each wash. It washes off quite well, without leaving any sticky or slimy sensation on the skin. It is quite an effective cleanser. Overall, it does provide quite a spa-like feel when used in the bath tub, leaving your tired limbs extremely soft, and lulling you into a nice sleep (Yes, I have slept off in a bath tub once while using this!!!!!).
Post-bathing, I am totally disheartened. This shower concentrate is not for me. However much I loved it in the bath tub and in the shower, but it totally dries out my skin; even worse than certain bathing soaps. I have used it during warm climates; and well as during the slighter colder days we are facing now. And the result is the same. I have to put on a good moisturiser immediately after my shower; or else my skin begins to feel dry and itchy within 5-10 minutes time. This might be a blessing for the oily skin types; especially during summers; but I would not recommend this in cold winters. As for now, the bottle is lying inside my bathroom cabinet; waiting for the summers to come full time; so that I might finish it off, using around 2-3 capfuls in my bath tub to give my body a treat. This one is not at all an essential for me; especially since I have got used to the mild and gentle, yet effective shower gels from other brands.

• Extreme drying out of my skin within 5-10 minutes in warmer or colder climates
• Good moisturisation is essential after using it.

Will I repurchase Clarins Tonic Bath and Shower Concentrate with Essential Oils?
No. I am quite satisfied with my other brand shower gels; and will stick to them in future. I would recommend this only to be used sometimes, when you are very tired; to pamper yourself and give your body a treat; with all the essential oils. But then, I would recommend this only to the oily skin people; during the extreme warm and humid months. Even then, I would advise you to try out a sample before purchasing the entire bottle.

The shower gel comes in a small round plastic bottle with a flip lid. The packaging is very sturdy. The flap lid sometimes gets a little difficult to open as it’s a little tight. It can easily damage the nails. So, I make sure not to use the nails to open it. But it is travel safe since there is no chance that the flap would open up automatically. The bottle is transparent, which makes it easy to know the amount of the product left. The packaging is sturdy and looks pretty on the bathroom counter.

The consistency of the product is viscous, not water like but a little thicker. It is amber in color. I use twice the walnut size for my entire body. The shower gel spreads very easily on the skin and also creates a good amount of lather. The skin feels smooth and clean after the shower. The product does not leave the skin dry. The fragrance is worth talking about. It has an intense Bourbon Vanilla fragrance. The fragrance is definitely appealing to most people. The fragrance lasts for few hours after wash.
I would recommend using the complementing body lotion so that the fragrance doesn’t interfere with other products. One can even skip the perfume when shower gel and the body lotion from the same range are used together. The shower gel did not cause any kind of irritation to the skin. Overall, it’s a very nice product. I love it. I would prefer this shower gel for summer months due to the spring fragrance.
