Stacey Richards is warning people of the dangers of glass screens
A BABY girl was “cut to shreds” in a bath-time horror when a glass shower screen suddenly exploded.
Mum Stacey Richards was given her one-year-old daughter her normal evening bath when the shower screen exploded which sounded “like a gun shot”.

The child was covered in cuts as a result and the bathroom floor was drowned in glass.
Stacey, 24, said: “Last night I was giving Elsiee-Maie a bath as normal, she was sat there babbling away.
“Within a split second, it was like someone had fired a gun at the side of us, there was glass everywhere.
“Our glass shower screen had spontaneously exploded, never in my life have I moved so fast as I tried to shield her from being hurt.
“Elsiee-Maie’s dad came running in and grabbed her from me as I was shaking so much.
“My one-year-old was cut to shreds in what I can only explain as a freak incident. Elsiee-Maie was screaming, it was horrible and there was no warning.”

Stacey is waiting for her landlord to find receipts for the two-year-old shower screen to check the manufacturer.
Her daughter is recovering from a dozen cuts to her body with one on her head and some on her back, hands, arms and legs.
Stacey added: “It could have been a lot worse.”
Following what happened, Stacey is now warning of the dangers of shower screens and urging other parents to check theirs is not compromised or cracked.

“From what I’ve been reading up on the internet, it’s a quite common fault with these kind of shower screens, so why are they allowed to still be used is beyond me.
“I keep thinking what if Elsieè-Maie had been stood on the outside of the bath? It could have been a lot worse, it doesn’t bear thinking about.
“When I tucked her up in bed last night, she was very unsettled and kept on waking up crying.
“I just wanted to make people aware as I would hate for another baby to go through this.”
One Lidl shopper was left horrified after choking on a shard of broken glass “in a tin of baked beans”.
Stephen McLury, who has a feeding tube, began coughing and choking soon after tucking into his beans dinner.
