Adam the client is a young professional (bachelor at the time). His brief was for me to mix his love of old Villa and industrial contemporary. I took this brief and ran with it trying to mix and blend the two while also making them work together and keep a contrast visible.
With the ensuite, the windows had to be removed, so I added a skylight to emphasise the height of room. This – hand-in-hand with the black feature wall in back wall shower – creates a beautiful light and draws your eyes upwar., There is a wall-to-wall recess in shower with LED strip lighting in a warm colour to add warmth and light low down as well as under the vanity.
I made a point that there be no chrome in this house – all fixtures and hardware are aged brass /antique brass. I had the heated towel rails and flush panel electroplated to match. This contrasts with the soft concrete/black tiles in ensuite and gives it an old school charm and warmth.
Adam likes moody rooms so for the Master bedroom I designed panelling for all the walls creating a feature on the bedhead wall with the Frizzel art as a feature. The custom bed head and matching bed end in a soft smokey velvet to help soften and contrast the dark grey walls.

I chose curtains to the ceiling in a dark grey matching linen, which also helps soften the room by adding a organic texture. I then designed the floor to ceiling sliding doors to hide when closed) the bathroom entry and the wardrobe. Between these doors is a television recessed into the panelling. When closed it creates a panelled wall .
