Choosing a signature scent is a very personal experience. With new fragrances launching daily, it’s hard to sift through and yet there is something about the weather changing that gets me all excited for those more flirty floral scents. Brands like Ulta and Sephora will organize by top rated (Sephora also features what’s new) which are great resources. For me I need to experience a fragrance in person so I have been non-stop attending fragrance previews and have an entirely new updated scent range for the season. Here’s what were excited about:

Raw Spirit Desert Blush: All of the fragrances featured above are new with the exception of Desert Blush from Raw Spirit (the rollerball shown above). I recently discovered the brand and have become instantly enamored. This is the fragrance I travel with and makes me feel so pretty and feminine every time I put it on. Inspired by the Western Australian desert, the scent is based around Australian boronia, a tiny pink blossom known for it’s sweet, citrusy aroma. Blended with notes of jasmine petals and violets mixed with warm musk, cedarwood and Australian sandalwood.

Creed Royal Princess Oud: Master perfumer Olivier Creed created a captivating scent featuring notes of floral iris at the heart and oud at the base. This woody floral fragrance features the signature note of oud, a historical ingredient that’s expensive and rare, perfectly fitting for a captivating and passionate fragrance. You have to be an Oud lover (obviously) for this to be your new signature scent but like everything Creed does it’s sophisticated, rich and unique. It was a Neiman Marcus Beauty Award Finalist and available in two sizes, 1oz and 2.5oz (photoed above).

Molton Brown Dewy Lily of the Valley & Star Anise: London’s fragrance expert, Molton Brown unveiled a modern interpretation of a classic scent inspired by the elegant purity of a luxurious bridal bouquet. The collection, including bath and shower gel, body lotion, Eau de Toilette, hand cream, candle and aroma reeds, celebrates the leading note: lily of the valley with additional notes of star anise, green mandarin and white tea. I grew up with Lily of the Valley in my backyard and this scent takes me back to walks in the woods. Be on the lookout for this collection starting March 21st!

Lanvin Éclat de Fleurs: A fruity, floral bouquet, Éclat de Fleurs blends the refined fragrance of flowers with the tangy scent of fruit, making it perfect for spring. The head note of a succulent pear accord creates a sensation of colorful freshness. Following this airy top note, the floral heart note gradually releases roses with the mellowness of Sambac Jasmin. The base notes are a sweetness of white musk with the creaminess of Sandalwood.

Diptyque Eau de Sens: The latest fragrance from Diptyque carries the scent of orange blossom, Juniper berries and Patchouli. It’s a beautiful mix of citrus with some unexpected woody notes that’s so unbelievably lovely. Eau de Sense is available in three fragrance sizes as well as in a soap bar.

Ferragamo Signorina Misteriosa: Signorina Misteriosa is Ferragamo’s newest fragrance, celebrating a woman’s mysterious side. The daring Eau de Parfum was developed by perfumers Sophie Labbé and Nicolas Beaulieu and infuses notes of blackberry, neroli, orange blossom, tuberose, patchouli and black vanilla mousse. It’s very exotic and unique and the perfect fragrance to take you from day to night. Available in two sizes 1.7oz and 3.4oz on Macys.com.

Carthusia Essence of The Park: A few months back I went to a lunch for Carthusia. Hailing from Capri it’s a beautiful heritage brand with a rich history and wide array of fragrances, candles and home fragrances. Their latest scent is a sparkling floral evoking the most cherished scents of the outdoors. The scent contains a transporting blend of luminous magnolia, winter honeysuckle and cooling Artemisia. Experience the whole collection at C.O. Bigelow

Clean Blossom: A very floral and powdery scent that isn’t overpowering and inspired by a natural spring scattered with freshly fallen petals. I have the late-winter blues, and I’m starting to look forward to my own personal rites of spring. In April and early May, for example, I take pleasure in the days when I can eat my lunch under the magnolia trees in Central Park.

The Magnolia products from elizabethW aptly capture the scent of a real magnolia flower, with its creamy sweetness and its bright, lemony edge. Magnolia is a softly flirtatious floral, and elizabethW accentuates it with light notes of gardenia and mimosa, creating a feminine bouquet that would suit Scarlett O’Hara in one of her more tranquil moods. (And who could ever forget Rhett Butler saying, “You can drop the moonlight and magnolias, Scarlett,” when he saw through her sweet talk?)

I’ve been using the Magnolia Bath Gel in the shower, where it releases masses of gentle foam and a delicate aura of fragrance. I also look forward to trying elizabethW’s Magnolia Body Cream at some point, since I’ve already sampled the body cream in other scents and I admired its rich, soothing texture.

And yes, there really was an Elizabeth: the founder of elizabethW named the company for his great-grandmother, Elizabeth Wightman. As a nineteenth-century ranch-owner, Wightman maintained her sense of style even in the rough-hewn environment of the rural West, just as she beautified her property with gardens and flowering trees. Her balance of grace and practicality is perpetuated through the philosophy of elizabethW, and the various scents of the ranch’s landscape, including the magnolias that surrounded the house, inspired the elizabethW Signature Collection.

I won’t be able to picnic under Central Park’s own magnolia trees for another month or so, but in the meantime, elizabethW Magnolia Bath Gel brings me a bit closer to the scents of an ideal spring afternoon.

Wow – it’s cold outside. Not freeze-your-false-lashes-off cold, perhaps, but still seriously chilly. And it’s no fun, especially when you’re standing around for hours filming on location. I’m starting to worry that I may spend the whole of this season of MiC with dry skin and a drip on the end of my nose – definitely not a good look.

So earlier this week, as soon as filming wrapped for the day, I decided to trade MiC for TLC and treat myself to a real beauty treat. One of my favourite pastimes is locking the door on the rest of the world, taking the phone of the hook, and really pampering myself.

I’m lucky enough to have a really luxurious feminine bathroom in my house – it’s so lovely that me and my housemates – two of my best female friends – are always fighting for bathroom time. I’m starting to think about drawing up a bathroom rota, just so I don’t get one of the girls knocking on the doors so as I dip my toe in the scented water.

Luckily, I found out that the others would both be out on Tuesday evening, so the minute I arrived home from work, I knew I had hours of indulgent Binky-time ahead of me.

I started by dimming the lights and filling the bathroom with gorgeous scented candles. There are tons of delicious ones to choose from, and I’m a real fan. In spring I go for light, girlish floral candles; in summer I burn zesty citrus flavours, but in winter I like to fill my home with really lush green scents and woody spiced fragrances. I recently treated myself to three incredible Acqua Di Parma candles – Precious Wood, Spicy and Cloves – all perfect for creating a warm, cosy deliciously scented room. So I lit them all and dotted them around the room.

Next I filled my bath right to the brim with steaming water and bath oil. I have to admit that my shelves are heaving with lovely bathtime lotions and potions. I’m a complete beauty addict – in case you hadn’t guessed – and I can’t resist splashing out of scrumptious scents and smellies.  But there are two bathing classics that I return to time after time:

Firstly I never tire of the heavenly lemon scented L’Occitane Verbena Festival Foaming Bath – it smells so divine that it always makes me feel wonderfully refreshed. I’ve enjoyed L’Occitane’s Verbena products for ages and the bubble bath has to be my favourite.

My other bath essential is  Clarins Tonic Bath & Shower Concentrate. If I’ve had a really long tiring day, I always pour three or four capfuls of this aromatic oil into the water – it contains Rosewood, Geranium, Mint, Rosemary essential oils to cleanse and firm the skin, and it really does revive my spirit.

I’d had just the sort of day that called for a real pick-me-up soak, so out came the Clarins. Once I’d warmed up and relaxed in my steamy, scented bath for an hour,  it was time for a little bit of body work. The mixture of cold weather and hot central heating can leave my skin feeling really dull and dry so I use a body scrub religiously during the winter months. Right now I’m loving Acqua Di Parma Italian Resort Pumice Body Scrub, which contains three different exfoliating granules: volcanic pumice, marine salts and citrus peel. It leaves my skin wonderfully smooth and silky.

I snoozed on for another hour, rousing myself every so often to top up the hot water, but finally it was time to climb out of the bath. However, my pampering session wasn’t over yet. I still had to moisturise and scent my body. Like most girls, I am a bit of a fragrance flirt and find I fall in love with a new scent every three or four months. I love everything from unusual niche fragrances by elegant perfumiers like Annick Goutal or Serge Lutens, to the blockbuster celebrity scents from the likes of J Lo and Lady Gaga – you never know, one day I might even bring out my very own Binky perfume, after all, I’ve put in years of research!

For head-to-toe beauty sessions like this one, however, I like to layer up a single scent, as different fragranced products can lead to a perfume clash. Most of the big-name brands produce full body ranges for their fragrances – everything from deodorant sprays, hand creams and body lotions to shampoos and conditioners. And of course there’s the actual scent itself.

This time I chose Dolce & Gabbana Rose The One, which has a Perfumed Shower Gel, a Perfumed Body Lotion and a Perfumed Shimmer Powder, all featuring the deliciously feminine fragrance that mixes fruity top notes, with a central bouquet of peony, lily, lychee and Bulgarian rose. A final spritz of Rose The One Eau de Parfum, and I was done.

At the end of my luxurious evening I felt deliciously relaxed, my skin was baby-soft and smooth, and I smelled good enough to eat. Pity the only one at home to see and smell the results of pampering was my beloved pooch Scrumble!
