8 camping cars you’ll never lose in the woods!

Read article : 8 camping cars you’ll never lose in the woods!

What does it take to go camping these days? Die-hard campers swear by nothing more than a tent and a swath of multi-tools, while some outdoor enthusiasts prefer hauling everything they own atop a camper.

When a clean toilet and the occasional connection to a 4G network are seen as luxury amenities, it’s vital that your choice of camping vehicle be well thought-out.

Whether your camp site is in the hinterlands, or in your very own backyard (stocked with scary stories and a bag of marshmallows), consider these choices for a most memorable experience:

All-in-one glamping: 2015 Airstream Interstate Grand Tour

Who says that all camping trips must conform to be down-and-dirty affairs? After spending a limited amount of time with the Airstream Interstate Grand Tour, we can confirm that there is plenty of joy in stylishly arriving, parking, and relaxing. Although the Interstate shares fun-to-drive attributes with the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van, upon which it’s based, the real pleasure is luxuriating in the rear compartment. A full kitchen offers a world of possibilities at the camp site, as does an airplane-size bathroom with a working shower. Rent or buy one, and instantly become the darling of the van contingent at every campsite.

Vital Stats: 2015 Airstream Interstate Grand Tour

Price: $155,060 (excluding destination fee, includes donor Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500)

Powertrain: Rear-wheel drive, 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine, 188-hp, 325 lb.-ft. of torque, 5-speed automatic transmission

Best camping feature: Enhancing the greater outdoors, from within.

Haul any trailer: 2016 Chevrolet Colorado diesel

If your idea of camping involves tailgating and long nights staring at the stars, there are few pickup trucks that do it better than the Chevrolet Colorado diesel. The standard Colorado – and its sibling, the GMC Canyon – are both capable pickups, but the diesel variants can tow up to 7,700 lbs. Hitch a trailer and head for the camp site, knowing that the integrated towing brake (aka “Jake brake”) is a midsize innovation that makes it easier to come to a stop while towing. Best of all, thanks to a 4G LTE Wi-Fi connection, camping doesn’t have to be a vacation from the modern world.

Vital Stats: 2016 Chevrolet Colorado diesel

Price: $32,185 (including $895 destination fee)

Powertrain: Rear-wheel drive, 2.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, 181-hp, 369 lb.-ft. of torque, 6-speed automatic transmission

Best camping feature: The ability to attach a tent and cover the pickup bed.

Camping for the Civic-minded: 2016 Honda Civic

(Jeff Jablansky)

What if the tent was already set up, the drinks were chilled, the fire pit was lit and, in the end, to go camping all you really had to do was show up? Look no further than the 10th-generation Honda Civic. Honda’s economy car champ is all new for 2016, with added refinement and style in a compact sedan market that suddenly looks outdated in comparison. (Though be sure to check out the nimble Mazda3!) The base Civic LX offers tremendous value and a 6-speed manual transmission, a feature that goes back to Honda’s roots as building driver’s cars on a budget. Pull up at the camp site, unload what you need, and know that the trusty Civic is patiently waiting for the return trip.

Vital Stats: 2016 Honda Civic

Price: $19,475 (including $835 destination fee)

Powertrain: Front-wheel drive, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, 158-hp, 138 lb.-ft. of torque, 6-speed manual or continuously variable automatic transmissions (LX trim)

Best camping feature: Light up the forest with standard LED taillights.

Leave no trace or emissions: 2015 BMW i3

(Jeff Jablansky)

A respected mantra of camping is “leave no trace.” In the all-electric BMW i3, you can come and go from a camp site with little harm done to the environment, or the ozone layer. The i3’s electric motor offers plenty of pulling power – sorry, it’s not enough for trailers – and there are usually EV charging spots close to campsites. Yes, a “range-extended” hybrid i3 is also available, but there is merit in going completely electric and green…the wildlife you admire will thank you for it!

Vital Stats: 2015 BMW i3

Price: $43,395 (including $995 destination fee, before added incentives)

Powertrain: Rear-wheel drive, electric motor, 170-hp, 184 lb.-ft. of torque, 1-speed automatic transmission

Best camping feature: Open the doors to reveal a gorgeous natural tapestry that includes eucalyptus trim.

Relax and catch some shut-eye: 2016 Honda Fit

The Honda Fit is a subcompact hatchback that has the interior volume that puts many small SUVs to shame. The Honda Fit is a subcompact hatchback that has the interior volume that puts many small SUVs to shame.  (Jeff Jablansky)

The Honda Fit always surprises us, since it’s a subcompact hatchback that has the interior volume to shame many small SUVs. The functional front-wheel-drive Fit is a must, if you’re the one responsible for setting up camp. When you’re not carrying gear for a weekend getaway, fold the front passenger seat flat and stretch out, as part of a configuration that Honda calls “refresh mode.” We call it taking a snooze, but there you go. (There are also Utility, Long, and Tall modes.) If you forget a tent peg and need alternative accommodations, the Fit is your ride.

Vital Stats: 2016 Honda Fit

Price: $16,610 (including $820 destination fee)

Powertrain: Front-wheel drive, 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, 130 hp, 118 lb.-ft. of torque, 6-speed manual or continuously variable automatic transmissions

Best camping feature: The ability to either stretch out and veg or store everything that would otherwise require a separate camper.

Space to roam: 2016 Ram ProMaster City

There are a lot of choices when it comes to the small van category, but when it comes to camping, we choose the <a href=Ram ProMaster City." src="http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopoly_fs/1.2408950.1445627899!/img/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/article_750/rpmc-front.jpg" />

(Jeff Jablansky)

There is a growing list of choices in the small van category, from the Mercedes-Benz Metris to Ford’s Transit Connect. Yet the one we’d take camping is the nifty little Ram ProMaster City. After a week of driving it around New York City, we’re convinced by the ProMaster City’s versatility, ability to navigate tight spaces, and unexpected passenger comfort. With a 1,700-lb. payload, and SUV-like towing capacity, the ProMaster should make an excellent utilitarian vehicle for a quick camping trip with lots of gear to haul.

Vital Stats: 2016 Ram ProMaster City

Price: $25,240 (wagon, including $995 destination fee)

Powertrain: Front-wheel drive, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, 178-hp, 174 lb.-ft. of torque, 9-speed automatic transmission

Best camping feature: Pickup-grade payload and as much room inside as your first NYC apartment.

Clearance to camp: 2016 Volvo S60 Cross Country

The S60 Cross Country is a safe and classy alternative to the standard fare in the crowded luxury sedan class.

(Jeff Jablansky)

What has 7.9 inches of ground clearance, all-wheel drive, European driving dynamics, and the ability to tow 3,300 pounds? Yes, of course, it’s the Volvo S60 Cross Country! This high-riding, four-door sedan recently impressed us on the back-roads of California’s Napa Valley. As you’d expect, the S60 Cross Country is a safe and classy alternative to the standard fare in the crowded luxury sedan class. Lo and behold, it’s also a great choice for a camping trip! If your pup tent could be upgraded business-class, the result would be the S60 Cross Country.

Vital Stats: 2016 Volvo S60 Cross Country

Price: $44,440 (including $940 destination fee)

Powertrain: All-wheel drive, 2.5-liter inline five-cylinder engine, 250-hp, 266 lb.-ft. of torque, 6-speed automatic transmission

Best camping feature: Heated front seats, heated rear seats, heated windshield…you stay warm when it’s cold!

Nature’s eye candy: 2015 Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4

There are few vehicles as striking, and completely impractical, to take on a camping trip than a Lamborghini Huracan. Will its 602-hp V-10 help the Huracan tow a trailer? Nope. Will its trunk fit all your gear? Probably not. Does it seat all of your fellow campers? Not unless this is a couples trip. No, taking a Huracan camping makes as much sense as borrowing a Ford Transit for a date with a supermodel – but that’s why we love it. However, the Lambo’s standard all-wheel drive, not to mention its ability to make a quick exit, could make it the ideal camping ride if you suddenly pull up to a den of Grizzlies.

Vital Stats: 2015 Lamborghini Huracan

Price: $240,745

Powertrain: All-wheel drive, 5.2-liter V-10 engine, 602-hp, 413 lb.-ft. of torque, 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission

Best camping feature: The look on fellow campers’ faces when this V-10 roars to life.

Fitting in fitness easy at Village Green

Read article : Fitting in fitness easy at Village Green

February 05, 2006|By Annemarie Mannion, Tribune staff reporter

Does swimming against a current sound like what you need? How about working up a sweat on an indoor racquetball court?

If achieving fitness was your New Year's resolution, Village Green at Seven Bridges in Woodridge can help you.

This 252-unit apartment development offers several fitness amenities, including an indoor resistance pool, outdoor swimming pool, racquetball court, exercise room with treadmills, weight room with machines and free weights, and Pilates classes.

Golf enthusiasts have access to an outdoor putting green and Seven Bridges Golf Course, where residents get a 20 percent discount on course fees. Seven Bridges Ice Arena and Edward Hospital's Medical Fitness Center are also nearby.

When you're ready to soothe overworked muscles, Village Green has a whirlpool and sauna.

The community has 10 three-story elevator buildings with red brick and gray vinyl-sided exteriors. Though the complex was built only eight years ago, the fir trees, bushes and other landscaping are nearly mature and provide a nice backdrop to the buildings.

Even more attractive is the view from the three-bedroom unit we toured, which can double as a two-bedroom with den.

The front door opens into a beige carpeted entry hall with a double coat closet on the left.

A gas-burning fireplace flanked by two windows highlights the 12-by-16-foot living room. The fireplace has a ceramic tile hearth.

An island with a white countertop separates the living room from the kitchen. With white cabinets, a dishwasher and room for a dinette set, the kitchen makes preparing meals easy. A door on one side of the kitchen encloses a closet where there's a full-size washer and dryer.

The 15-by-11 foot dining room is next to the living room. It's large enough to hold a dining set for six. A sliding glass door opens to a patio.

With a bay window in the 11-by-15 foot master bedroom, you could soak up the sun or enjoy the view of the lake and green at the golf course. The beige-carpeted room includes a bathroom and walk-in closet.

The bathroom has a glass-enclosed shower, linen closet and white vanity.

Another bathroom and two bedrooms are on the other side of the dining room. The second bathroom has a soaking tub instead of a shower. In addition to a door from the dining room, it has another door that leads to a bedroom.

This 11-by-13-foot bedroom is illuminated by a huge window with a view to the west of the lawn and a barbecue pit that residents can use in the summer. This bedroom also has a walk-in closet.

The third bedroom, a 12-by-11 foot space, could serve as a bedroom, nursery or den. It is separated from the dining room by a French door. Two small windows are high on the wall, providing natural light. A double closet offers ample storage space.

The complex is served by a PACE bus, which takes commuters to a train station in Lisle, about a five-minute drive from the property. It is also a short drive to Interstate Highway 355.

Rents range from $795 to $870 for a studio; from $895 to $990 for a one-bedroom; from $1,100 to $1,190 for a one bedroom with den; from $1,020 to $1,120 for a two bedroom, one bath; from $1,190 to $1,300 for a two bedroom, two bath; and from $1,440 to $1,675 for a three-bedroom, two-bath unit.

Bozlun B15P fitness tracker with blood pressure monitor review

Read article : Bozlun B15P fitness tracker with blood pressure monitor review

Choosing a wearable fitness tracker isn’t an easy task when there are so many different devices on the market to pick from. You can go with one of the popular trackers from brands like Fitbit, Withings or Misfit if you’re ok with spending more than $60 for their lowest end device. Or you can check out the Bozlun B15P fitness tracker which costs less than $33 and has a lot of the same features including one feature that none of the others have which is a blood pressure monitor. But is this just another case of you get what you pay for? Let’s take a look.

What is it?

The Bozlun B15P is a wrist wearable fitness tracker that keeps track of your steps, distance traveled, calories burned, sleep, heart rate, phone notifications, and even your blood pressure.

What’s in the box?

Bozlun B15P fitness tracker
Wrist strap
USB charging cable
Instructions

The Bozlun B15P is a small plastic module that water resistant to sweat and rain, but can’t be used in the shower, or while swimming or diving.

On the top of the B15P is an OLED white on black display with a touch button next to it.

On the bottom side is the sensor which is used to measure heart rate and blood pressure.

There are two electrical contacts on the end. To charge the B15P, you have to remove it from the wrist strap and insert it into the included USB charging cable / adapter.

I noticed that the tracker is a really tight fit in the charging adapter. It’s almost as if the cable hasn’t been made for this tracker. The charger does charge the tracker though…

In my short time testing this tracker, I’ve found that it is lasting about

The Bozlun B15P snaps easily into the included wrist strap. Wearing the tracker is actually very comfortable. I usually don’t like wearing watches or anything else on my wrist but I forgot I was even wearing the B15P… even while sleeping.

The tracker has a really bright white on black OLED display. The display turns on when you lift and twist your wrist to look at it or when you tap the touch sensitive button.

Note that the touch button doesn’t work if you have gloves on unless they are touchscreen gloves like the Mujjo touchscreen gloves that I reviewed not long ago.

The default screen shows the battery status, time, date and day of the week.

Tapping the button a second time shows your accumulated steps for the day.

The next screen shows calories burned due to activity.

Tap the button again and you’ll see the distance that you’ve walked in the last day.

The next screen shows how many hours you slept the night before.

Another tap of the button takes you to the heart rate monitor screen.

The next tap brings up the blood pressure monitor display which shows an animated thermometer that you have to stare at for what seems like a year before anything happens.

Finally, you will see your blood pressure reading if you’re lucky. Many times I would sit there for a minute or longer only to see XXX/XX on the screen.

How do the B15P blood pressure readings compare to other blood pressure monitors that use an arm or wrist cuff? Since I was unable to use two devices at the exact same time on the same arm to measure my blood pressure, I was never able to get the exact same readings with the B15P and another device at the same time. I did try using the MOCACare MOCAcuff blood pressure monitor on my left wrist and the Bozlun B15P on my right wrist and started the readings at the same time. The results were completely different. The MOCAcuff showed 100/70 while the B15P showed 120/77. So I really can’t tell you how accurate the B15P is when it comes to blood pressure readings. I would not trust the readings.

There’s also another screen that looks like a phone with a magnifying glass. I have no idea what it means though…

Using the Bozlun B15P fitness tracker

The Bozlun B15P fitness tracker requires a mobile app to take advantage of all the available features. When you launch the app for the first time, it will ask you to create an account. You can skip this step and still use all the features. Your data just won’t be backed up if the phone gets ran over by a tank or something.

The app reminds me of most fitness tracking apps from the big brands. You have a scrolling dashboard where you can see your steps, sleep, heart rate and blood pressure stats. Tapping on one of the blocks will then let you see more info.

The detail screen for steps is actually pretty nice because it breaks down the data into how active you were for each other of the day.

The app will also work with the GPS in your mobile device to track your runs and walks on a map.

The step data was within range of my other pedometer that I carry in my pocket. The step count wasn’t exactly the same because all pedometers are different and you’ll never find one that tracks each step individually and accurately. A difference of a few hundred steps + or – is to be expected.

I can deal with the step counter being a little off, but the Bozlun B15P’s sleep tracker was way off! The first night it tracked that I slept 0 hours and the next nights it didn’t detect when I got out of bed to go to the bathroom and said that it took me about 2hrs to fall asleep which is probably off by about 1.5hrs or more.

As for the heart rate monitor, you have the option to setup the fitness tracker to record a heart rate reading every hour. But by default, this option is not enabled.

With the blood pressure monitor, it only records the readings to the app that are manually initiated through the app, and not the readings started through the tracker itself.

As I had mentioned above, I’m not sure about the accuracy of the readings and what makes me even more unsure is that there’s a setting in the app where you can put in your normal blood pressure reading. The paranoid in me makes me wonder if the app uses that data to just guess what your BP is.

My advice is that you should not rely on the blood pressure readings of this device to self-diagnose any suspected issues with your heart.

Other features of the Bozlun B15P fitness tracker

The tracker has a notification feature that can be enabled to vibrate to let you know if there’s a call on your phone or a notification from certain apps.

You can setup 3 different alarms that will vibrate at different times.

You can set a get up and move time reminder between certain hours of the day when you’ve been sitting too long.

The B15P has a setting that you can enable that is supposed to alert you when you’ve walked off without your phone (I think). But I was never able to get it to work.

Last but not least, you can use the fitness tracker as a camera shutter button for your smartphone. Wait, what? Yes, you read that right. You go into the H Band app and navigate to the settings where you’ll find a Take Photo item in the menu. When you click that, a camera app will launch on your phone and a camera icon will show up on the B15P’s display. When you tap the B15P’s touch button, your phone will take a picture. You can continue taking pics until you exit out of the camera app.

Final thoughts

At the beginning of this review, I asked if the Bozlun B15P fitness tracker is this just another case of you get what you pay for? For less than $33, this fitness wearable has a lot of features. Some that the big guys don’t even have like the blood pressure monitor, shutter button and device loss feature.

Although I have serious concerns about the accuracy of the blood pressure monitor feature and the sleep tracker. And I wasn’t able to get the device loss feature to work correctly because there’s zero info in the instructions for this feature, I do like this tracker as a pedometer and heart rate monitor. It’s an easy to use entry-level level tracker that can help motivate you to get more active by letting you see your step count, distance and calorie burn on an easy to read screen. The alarm features, phone notifications, camera shutter and inactivity alerts are all features usually only found on pricier devices, so I do think that this fitness tracker offers a good bang for your buck.
