Bathrooms are used these days for different additional functions, such as reading magazines, watching TV, taking a warm soak in your tub in a romantic mood, and storing your exercise equipment. If you need to add new functions or ideas to your bathroom, you can design it yourself installing your new ideas and removing the old and invalid items.
Designing your bathroom depends mainly on its size. The large sized bedroom will have more options of designations and include more fixtures such as a toilet, bidet, sinks, tub and shower, and exercise equipment. The medium size bathroom may include a toilet, cabinet, and sink. The small bathroom shouldn’t be cramped or crowded by too much fixtures. It may include the essential fixtures such as the toilet, shower stall and a small sink. You can design children and guest bathroom using a three-quarter or full sized room, but the children bathroom will need more colorful storage spaces and the guest bathroom will need more formal items.
Lighting your bathroom is an important factor to reflect the mood you need. The natural light will refresh the air and mood of your bathroom giving it a healthy feel. At night, you will need an overhead lamp, wall scones on the two sides of your mirror, and task light over the sink. You can install a ventilation system and a power ventilator to get rid of any mildew, humidity, and heated odors.
You can decorate your bathroom using functional items such as the shower curtain rings or hooks, towel rings, and soup dishes. You can install light colored ceramic tiles at the middle with dark colored boarders to give your bathroom an inviting look. Your functional decoration also can include the corner shelves, above sink cabinet and medicine cabinet.
Your small bathroom can be paint an earthy tone with small patterns with a large mirror covering one wall to give a spacious look to the place. You can add more details according to your vision and the function expected from your new bathroom.

Head Bath Tips" width="750" height="500" />
Before you enter into the shower and apply a generous dose of shampoo, we would want you to read this post on head bath tips. There isn’t a perfect time and an imperfect time as such when it comes to applying head bath tips, but if you know the basics, you then are set.
What we mean as before head bath tips and to have the real head bath meaning with care is pampering and treating the hair before the showering happens. Before we get into the details, lets go understand the basics.
This is a question which everyone wants an answer to. We have various hair types- dry, oily, normal and combination and even sensitive. Just like our skin, our hair types too need special attention and one of the best head bath tips, which we can give you, is that thrice a week for dry to normal hair, and twice a week for oily or sensitive and combo hair should be adhered to. Your scalp produces natural oils, which with every hair wash gets stripped. This can lead to further drying of hair and which is why we ask you to oil your dry or normal hair before a shower- thrice a week, twice a week for other hair types.

Oiling helps nourish and protect the hair, and also is a therapy for the scalp since you would be massaging the scalp and enhancing blood circulation as well. You must always heat the oil and then apply the room temperature oil to your hair- scalp to the tip and in circular motion; an hour before your shower. Wear a shower cap after the oiling is done so as to lock in the moisture. If you wish to oil the hair overnight, do so three hours before your bedtime and wash it off the next morning to notice the difference in your hair.
We have written about various holistic and natural hair oils to use, and hence would ask you to refer to them. But if you need a recap, we would look at coconut oil, sesame oil, methi oil and castor oil amongst the many natural oils that promote hair growth, delaying hair fall and hair loss too. What you could do is to use a tablespoon of castor oil, mustard oil and coconut oil each- mix them and warm them together and apply on the hair and the scalp. Give yourself a good massage and then keep it for an hour. Wash it off under warm water thereafter and use a mild shampoo to rinse off.
You could make an egg hair pack, using an egg white and olive or mustard oil (1 tbsp) to use as a hair mask. Apply the hair mask onto your hair and allow half an hour to go by. Wash off with cold water and then rinse off with a cup of vinegar mixed with a bucket of warm water to ward of the smell and to clean the scalp. Do this thrice a week before your main head shower and watch how your hair starts springing itself back to life. Source: mantello.co.uk
Before you enter the shower for a head bath, here are a few tips that you should religiously follow.
1. Take half a cup of milk and pour it into a tablespoon of your shampoo. Mix the two and apply on your hair to rid the scalp of redness, itchiness and dryness.

2. You may also add a pinch of salt and baking soda to your conditioner, which helps add bulk to the hair and make it very bouncy.
3. You could also use a cup each of rosewater and vinegar to help do away with build up and ward of bad odors and smells from the hair too.

I love my new apartment, but the bathroom has been a challenge to decorate. There’s nothing wrong with it … it’s just very brown and boring.
Here are some before photos to give you an idea what I’m talking about.
Easy Bathroom Refresh ... get my easy and affordable tips and tricks for giving your boring bathroom a makeover! BEFORE | Hello Little Home" width="624" height="843" />I hesitate to complain too much, because it’s actually a very nice, spacious bathroom. There’s tons of storage space, a big counter, and even a convenient utility closet.
There’s just so much brown! The walls are beige, the cabinets are dark brown, the counters are brown … the list goes on. My ideal bathroom is all white (tiles, towels, etc.), and this is pretty much the opposite of that.
Easy Bathroom Refresh ... get my easy and affordable tips and tricks for giving your boring bathroom a makeover! BEFORE | Hello Little Home" width="624" height="956" />When we first moved in, I hung up my white shower curtain and towels and hoped to call it a day. It was just so boring though.
To me, fall is the perfect time for a simple home decor or organizing project. Everyone’s heading back to school, the weather’s cooling off, and a little change feels good.
I love nothing more than a quick makeover, and nothing in my bathroom popped, if you know what I mean! It was time for an easy bathroom refresh, and I decided to add some color.
Easy Bathroom Refresh ... get my easy and affordable tips and tricks for giving your boring bathroom a makeover! BEFORE | Hello Little Home" width="624" height="936" />On a whim, I purchased the printed shower curtain below a few months after moving in. Blue and white is a favorite color combo of mine, and it’s the perfect way to counteract all that brown. The curtain was the inspiration for my easy bathroom refresh.
Easy Bathroom Refresh ... get my easy and affordable tips and tricks for giving your boring bathroom a makeover! | Hello Little Home" width="624" height="936" />I’m a firm believer that small updates, like buying the right toilet paper, can have a mega impact. There’s nothing worse than wasting the weekend running errands, which is why I love Quilted Northern Ultra Soft & Strong® (Mega Rolls). Each roll has four times the toilet paper in one mega roll, and more toilet paper equals fewer errands!
When I got home, I shopped my home for more bathroom accessories. Do you ever do that? I found a couple prints and some blue and white ceramics that worked perfectly.
Easy Bathroom Refresh ... get my easy and affordable tips and tricks for giving your boring bathroom a makeover! | Hello Little Home" width="624" height="952" />The first step in my easy bathroom refresh was adding art. This alone had a huge impact.
My husband and I purchased these prints at the Alameda Flea Market way back when we lived in San Francisco. The prints were super affordable, and a couple Target frames was all it took to make them look like expensive watercolors.
I love adding art to neglected spaces like the bathroom. It’s an easy and inexpensive way to add character to an overlooked room.

It’s very long, and we have plenty of cabinet space to store our stuff, so I like to keep it mostly clear.
To break up the brown counter a bit, I added a few blue and white decorative objects on one end. These came from a thrift store years ago, so they were a bargain, too. Keep an eye out the next time you go thrifting for similar items!Easy Bathroom Refresh ... get my easy and affordable tips and tricks for giving your boring bathroom a makeover! | Hello Little Home" width="624" height="936" />I also replaced my white soap dispenser that was looking a little worse for wear with a vibrant new blue one. Doesn’t it look great with my colorful shower curtain?
Easy Bathroom Refresh ... get my easy and affordable tips and tricks for giving your boring bathroom a makeover! | Hello Little Home" width="624" height="936" />Next to the counter, I hung up a new patterned towel, also from Target.
I’m kind of obsessed with this pretty towel! It’s still a white towel like I love, but the beautiful pattern takes it to another level.

Easy Bathroom Refresh ... get my easy and affordable tips and tricks for giving your boring bathroom a makeover! | Hello Little Home" width="624" height="442" />This cushy bath mat from Target might be my favorite new addition. It’s so comfortable, and it’s much larger than my old mat. Plus, it looks great with my patterned shower curtain.
Easy Bathroom Refresh ... get my easy and affordable tips and tricks for giving your boring bathroom a makeover! | Hello Little Home" width="624" height="936" />Hanging a roll of the Quilted Northern Ultra Soft & Strong (Mega Rolls) was the finishing touch. With these four in one mega rolls, you can forget about refilling the roll for longer periods of time. And that means less time spent running errands and more time for fun stuff, like redecorating!
These mega rolls are always in style, every bit as comfortable, and designed to give you more … who doesn’t love that?

If you’re stuck with a boring, brown bathroom like me, try adding colorful new accessories. It’s amazing the impact a few simple changes can make!
Blue was the perfect choice here. It adds a little coolness to the space, yet complements the brown perfectly.
I love how the art livens up this corner!

I live in a loft that was converted from an office building/department store. When the developers revamped the building, they turned some of the old office doors into sliding doors like in our bathroom. There’s even a mail slot in the door!

It’s the worst when you jump into the shower and see dirt spots on the shower curtain, it can happen if the curtain doesn’t dry properly.
HOW TO CLEAN: Wipe over the curtain bottom of your curtain with a bathroom cleaner to remove any soap scum or dirt build up. To freshen up the shower curtain pop the curtain in the wash with 2-3 bath towels (this will help prevent the curtain from crinkling too much in the machine) along with your regular detergent. Then hang up to dry or check the label for washing instructions as you maybe able to put it in the dryer.

When brushing your teeth you’ll often see beyond the drain cover in the sink and see that it’s grotty. In a regular clean, you would usually wipe over the top of the cover but just under the drain cover is usually a big build up of dirt, yuck!
HOW TO CLEAN: Get an old toothbrush and poke it into your sink drain cover, use this to help lift up the cover. Spray inside the drain and the drain cover with your bathroom cleaner, use the old toothbrush to help remove all the dirt. Once clean place cover back on.
Whilst we clean the toilet seat and inside the bowl in a regular weekly bathroom clean, under the seat can often be forgotten, it an be a scary place, especially if you have boys as we know their aim can be terrible.
When cleaning the shower this area can often be neglected, which leads to a heavy build up.
HOW TO CLEAN: As the buildup is quite hard in this area your cleaning solution needs to sit on top to soften the area so you can easily remove the grime. Spray area as required and allow to sit for 10 minutes. Use a toothbrush to get into the hard to reach areas, then wipe over with a cloth.
Shower heads are prone to build up of mineral deposits, dust, dirt etc which affects the water pressure and spurts water out in all different directions. Cleaning the shower head in your regular bathroom cleaning routine will help prevent the build up.
