Read article : online - Frameless Glass bath and shower screens at the Three Quays Development, London

Three Quays is a stunning complex of luxury apartments overlooking the River Thames with a magnificent location right next to the Tower of London.
Built to provide both residential accommodation and short lets for visitors to London these contemporary apartments are finished to an exceptionally high quality. Ion Glass installed bespoke frameless glass showerscreens and frameless glass bathscreens to every apartment, including the penthouse suites.

This project involved replicating similar style frameless shower screens and frameless bathscreens in all the bathrooms  throughout the whole development but nevertheless each room was treated individually, uniquely measured and designed for an accurate result. The installation carried out by Ion’s experienced glass technicians.

Bespoke bi-fold bath screens make maximum use of the space where an over-bath shower has been installed; over-sized walk-in showers are enclosed by a sleek frameless glass panel and a single wall-hung frameless glass shower door. Polished chrome brackets and hinges with matching towel rails have been used throughout the development.

The resulting bathrooms are sleek, contemporary and fully in keeping with the luxurious look and feel of this high profile development. Each bespoke frameless shower screen or frameless bath screen fulfils the brief of being elegant, functional and stylish and, with the benefit of precise and individual measurements, fits perfectly.

Cheap sleeps in London - London Forum

Read article : Cheap sleeps in London - London Forum

2. Re: Cheap sleeps in London

If you look at the Clearlake's website (http://www.clearlakehotel.co.uk/) you'll notice that they have economy rooms and apartments. They do emphasize the small size of the economy rooms and when I phoned last year, they suggested that I upgrade to a studio apartment and gave me a rate that was less than the rate posted on their website.

So my studio apt. had an entry hall with kitchenette and bathroom off to the left and bedroom to the right. The kitchenette was really a narrow, L-shaped hall. And I mean narrow. The tiny English fridge was opposite the door for good reason. To open the fridge door fully, you had to open the door to the kitchen! However, it had all the basics, except an oven: fridge, microwave, 2 burner hot-plate, kettle, sink, minimal dishes, etc. The bathroom had a shower, no tub. The bedroom was a bit wider than a double bed with 2 bedside tables. There was a good-sized wardrobe built into one wall, a long, narrow table fixed to another wall, an armchair, and a regular chair. The TV was mounted above the table - usual 5 channels.

I did mention the awful decor in my other posting. The room could have used painting, one leg of the table was extended by a block of wood (and that was done by a carpenter while I was there!), the duvet cover did not match the sheets and neither matched the pillow slips, the armchair upholstery didn't match anything else and neither did the curtains - that sort of thing.

Don't stay there if you're a cleanliness freak. Everything was clean enough, but it didn't sparkle. But that is probably because it's hard to get old fixtures and fittings to sparkle.

The hotel is in a series of converted houses and has the added plus of a lift. It's a block from Kensington Gardens, about 3 or 4 blocks to the High St. Ken. tube. So the location is great.

Cedar Park Whirlpool Suites in Mystic - New London

Read article : Cedar Park Whirlpool Suites in Mystic - New London

Let me start by saying that this was my very first time at this establishment. My partner and I recently stayed at the Cedar Park" Whirlpool" Inn and had an extremely dissatisfying experience. We decided to book our stay at this location because we were going to the Food and Wine Festival in Foxwoods. As all the resorts close to the casinos were all booked up, this one happen to have several openings..(this should have been our first clue )! The website did look promising. It offered a 1 or 2 person whirlpool tub in each room and a manager's reception - a "happy hour" free beer, entertainment, apps. and free limo service to the casinos. As we arrived the outside looked cute and we were excited about the stay. We were warmly greeted at reception and directed to our room. That's when we realized what a mistake it was to book at this location. We were given a bottom floor room which was obviously a "basement" like room. It was dark, cold and smelled like mildew completely uninviting. Once the lights were turned up we noticed it was equipped with our very own fly swatter, de-humidifier and for a bonus an old exercise bike. To make matters worse the room we booked online was supposed to have a "whirlpool" tub in it, this room didn't even have a tub just a stand up shower, as we walked out to complain we noticed a large dirt mark on the sham of the bed. We quickly asked for another room. The girl at the reception desk did apologize and gave us another room. We were hoping that the new room would turn our sour moods around and unfortunately for us we were sadly mistaken. The second room may have been a slight step up (being on the second floor) but certainly did not meet our standards for a pleasant evening. Again the room was cold and dark. We brushed it off and turned up the heat. We decided to take inventory of the room. The pillows were thin and raggedy, the top sheets had big yellow stains on them, the love seat was worn and ripped and the curtains were stained and ripped. Again we were supposed to get a "whirlpool" tub this room had an ordinary tub with several jets! BIG DEAL I HAVE THAT AT HOME!!! At this point we just wanted to shower and start our evening out. A shower was out of the question, No Water Pressure what so ever this included the water pressure for the toilet. We decided to skip the "free" limo service ( $5 dollar gratuity was expected per person) and headed out for the night. On our way to the casino we searched for other hotel rooms in the area and came up with no other options. We had no choice but to go back to our "suite" at the end of our evening, only to be woken up at 2 am to drunken screaming party goers which lasted till 5 am. I would not recommend anyone to stay at this establishment if you are looking to "treat" yourselves out for a nice weekend. On the other hand if you are looking to party hard and pass out it seems this would be the place for you!

The Westbury Hotel, Mayfair - five star luxury in the heart of London

Read article : The Westbury Hotel, Mayfair - five star luxury in the heart of London

A Mayfair Staycation – The Westbury Hotel:

If only…

There are parts of London, like Mayfair, where most of us can only aspire to live.  Even if you shop on Bond Street and take tea at Sketch, actually living in Mayfair is out of reach for most Londoners.  So, why not live the dream and staycation at The Westbury Hotel in the heart of Mayfair, just around the corner from many of London’s designer boutiques.  Perfectly located for those who want to indulge in some top-end shopping, The Westbury is a classic five-star hotel with features that put it above many of the luxury hotel offering in London.

Classic Livingroom at the Westbury

As London’s first 5-star American hotel, you might expect a few difference – the Westbury London was opened in 1955, the sister hotel of the original Westbury in New York City.  The design still has an American luxury feel to it, with lots of dark wood and mirrors, larger than average London hotel rooms and marble lined ensuite bathrooms with tubs.

In room dining option

I was lucky enough to be offered an upgrade to a Corner Suite for my stay – something the same size as a London flat, with a living room complete with dining table to seat four and a large bedroom.  Enough wardrobe space to encourage me to shop until I dropped and a stunning bathroom with a second powder room.

The Westbury - Spacious Bedroom

I didn’t really want to leave.  At all.

The Westbury - Bathroom

Especially as the hotel had thoughtfully provided a bottle of wine, water, fresh fruit, a platter of cold meats, cheeses and pickles and a truly tempting plate of macarons and petits fours.

The Westbury cold platter

The wine obviously needed to be tried and you should never eat on an empty stomach.  Most of the cheese and cold meats vanished…

The Westbury Welcome

And I can never resist a macaron or two.

The Westbury Sideboard

My room came equipped with a Nespresso machine and pods.  There wasn’t a kettle that I could see, though that may have been simply down to lack of looking on my part.  I did, however, have a personal butler on call who I am sure would have obliged had I wanted tea, champagne or even caviar.  And the Westbury offers a full room service from all three of their restaurants so if I hadn’t had a table already reserved at Tsukiji, the small but perfectly formed Japanese restaurant, I’d have indulged myself and just stayed in the room all evening.  More of that experience in a separate post – there is far too much to cover to include details here.  And, I’ve already tried the Polo Bar (and been back a couple of times).  That leaves Alyn Williams at the Westbury – the hotel’s Michelin star fine dining restaurant – which I definitely want to try.

Toiletries - The Westbury 2

I was particularly impressed by the toiletries in the bathroom of the suite.  Asprey’s Purple Water is probably my favourite of the luxury toiletries provided by hotels.  With classic and restrained packaging, it’s something of a special secret.  I love the light, citrussy scent and am always impressed by the overall quality of the products.

The Westbury Entrance 2

Turn down arrived promptly at 6pm and provided a comprehensive service, drawing the floor to ceiling curtains and packing away the decor cushions and throws.  And, my guest for dinner turned up early enough to enjoy a glass of wine with me before we went downstairs.

Hotel Lobby 2 Westbury

There is something altogether luxurious about having dinner and just having to take the lift upstairs afterward.  I slept like a baby in the large bed.  Beautiful white cotton bed linen, fluffy pillows and a soft yet firm mattress all conspired to ensure the perfect night’s sleep.

Breakfast The Westbury

Breakfast is served in the dining room used by Alyn Williams in the evenings.  It’s a large and comfortable space with contemporary touches.  There are neat pots of cereals, fruits, and yoghurts to one side.  But, of course, it’s the a la carte breakfast that I look forward to when I am staying in a hotel.

Tea and pastries - The Westbury

Here there’s a good range of teas and coffees brought to you by waiter service, together with individual baskets of breakfast pastries so you don’t have to search out the last pain au chocolat!

Cooked Breakfast - The Westbury

The cooked breakfast was immaculate – I have to admit that since I was alone, I ordered a full English with eggs, just to check they were properly prepared.  Of course they were.

Cooked Breakfast - the Westbury 2

After I’d eaten more than enough for the whole day I went back to my suite to pack up and (regretfully) go home.

But not without doing more than a little window shopping on my walk back to Green Park tube.

Dior - Mayfair

The Westbury is discrete and quiet.  Tucked away off New Bond Street, it is somewhere I’d recommend to anyone wanting to stay in central London.  Good size rooms, immaculate service and a level of comfort that is well above average combine to make this a great base.  Suites like the one I stayed in would be perfect for a small family or for someone wanting to use the hotel as a base for business as the sitting room can be completely zoned off from the bedroom.

Royal Arcade Mayfair

But, if you simply want the best of London’s shops on your doorstep I’d look no further than The Westbury.

Thinking of visiting London?  Why not pin this post for later

The Goring links with Molton Brown for ‘London via the World’ series

This summer, London connoisseurs Molton Brown and the quintessentially English hotel, The Goring are coming together to launch a luxurious ‘London via the World’ bathing menu to celebrate the eccentric, vibrant character of the capital.

Created to transport The Goring’s guests to exotic destinations around the world (via the bathtub) Molton Brown’s ‘London via the World’ bathing menu is inspired by five of the brand’s most-loved fragrance collections.

Guests staying in the hotel between July 15th and September 15th 2012 will be able to choose the ultimate pampering experience from one of the five countries that make up Molton Brown’s new Global Heroes MMXII collection of body washes.

Whether it be London via China, Florida, The Gulf of Guinea, Australia or Madagascar, guests will be transported to all corners of the world from the comfort of their hotel room.

The experience includes the services of a Goring Bath Butler who will draw a wonderfully scented bubble bath, and prepare the perfect cocktail, inspired by the ingredients and destinations of the bath collection.

The final touch is the flickering light and scents of the much loved Languor or Verve piccolo candle sets of four complementing fragrances.

The Goring, the only five-star hotel that is still owned and run by the family that built it, and Molton Brown, championed for travelling the world in search of the rarest ingredients, will invite guests to choose from one of the following exotic experiences, each priced at £20.12.

London via China

Relax the body and mind with essential oils of vanilla, ylang-ylang and rose that help soothe the senses.

Complete Molton Brown’s Yuan Zhi Collection bathing experience with a luscious Lavender and Blueberry Martini.

London via Florida

Boost the senses and your skin with Molton Brown’s Vitalising Vitamin AB+C Bath & Shower, squeezed from fresh oranges. Coupled with The Goring’s signature O.R. Champagne cocktail (named after the hotel’s founder, Otto Richard Goring), this is the ultimate revitalising treat.

London via Australia

Give your skin and senses a lift with Molton Brown’s Warming Eucalyptus Bath & Shower Therapy, a powerful pick-me-up bursting with pure eucalyptus oil that is masterfully matched with The Goring’s Sour Apple Martini.

London via the Gulf of Guinea

Reawaken your energy banks with warm pink pepperpods from The Gulf of Guinea with Molton Brown’s Paradisiac Pink Pepperpod bathing experience, perfectly paired with The Goring’s signature Cosmopolitan cocktail.
