Turn your Bathroom into a Spa, by Joseph Pubillones

Read article : Turn your Bathroom into a Spa, by Joseph Pubillones

As Americans hustle and bustle to make ends meet and the work hours extend well beyond 40 hours per week, stress is an all-time high. Stress is responsible for triggering incidents from panic attacks to illness and even cardiac arrest. This is why the spa business is booming at an alarming rate. While some business folks may get the occasional perks of downtime to book a day at a spa, most American families do not have the luxury of time. Bringing the concept of the spa to your home is becoming quite popular.

Creating an at-home getaway is the goal when transforming your bathroom into a spa. There are several factors to consider in such a home improvement project. To get your bathroom to capture the spa feeling, you will want to capture as much room as possible. You will need more room to accommodate a luxurious tub to soak in, a large shower with massaging jet sprays, or perhaps a steam unit to transform your shower into a steam bath, a bench inside the shower, and a place to sit down and relax.

Give good consideration to plumbing fixtures and hardware. These valves and controls are important because they are tactile items, which affect the way you perceive your spa-bathroom. They are also effective to express a sense of luxury and relaxation.

The colors that are used in spas are deliberately chosen to reduce stress. The colors that are most used as those inspired by the sky, ocean and earth. These colors are usually very light. While they may seem washed out, these colors that are dusty and seem to insinuate another are the best. Like a soft white with an aqua green shimmer, or a beige that reflects salmon paired. These pale colors work the best when paired with white, gray or espresso cabinetry and trim.

Today's new spa-bathroom combinations also make a statement with tiles and stone treatments. The more exotic the marble, granite or quartz, the better. Sometimes great slabs are book-matched for an incredible organic pattern on walls and floors. Mosaics are historically tied to baths since pre-Roman times, and today with advances in technology, micro tiles can be laser cut and assembled to create the most incredible and fantastic patterns and designs.

Other items to be considered in the design of a spa-bathroom:

Candles: For burning at specific times, can be soothing. I would suggest a subtle aromatherapeutic scent. Small votive around your bath area can be beautiful, but also give off a relaxing glow.

The Best Linens: Accessorizing you bathroom with a nice bathrobe, thick absorbent towels, and bathmats are both useful and make your slippery surfaces safe.

Flowers and Plants: Are a great invigorating element of nature to add to your spa-bathroom. Plants are great because they help clean the air and give off oxygen.

Music: Part of the spa experience is too soothe your body and soul. Music is the best therapy to aid in relaxation and stress reduction. Spas pipe soft music everywhere for a reason. Add a couple of new jazz CDs to your repertoire and you are well on your way.

Baths Burn Calories: Why Taking a Bath Is Just as Good as a 30-Minute Walk

Read article : Baths Burn Calories: Why Taking a Bath Is Just as Good as a 30-Minute Walk

Go ahead and take that hour-long soak in the bathtub. Turns out, it’s doing your health a favor.

According to a research team at Loughborough University, it’s true! Their study suggests that taking a bath might be just as good for you as taking a walk.

The researchers placed 14 men into two activity groups and tracked the calories they burned. One group did a one-hour bicycle ride, while the other took a one-hour bath. (By the way, can you guess which group we would want to be in?)

In the end, the cyclers burned more calories than the lucky bathers. But here’s the good news: relaxing in the bath still burned around 130 calories, which roughly equals the amount you’d burn on a 30-minute walk.

Skip-Your-Walk-and-Take-a-Bath,-Instead—Science-Says-So!IDEAPIXEL/shutterstock

Surprised? Us too! The study explained that sitting in a hot bath (in this study’s case, 140 degree Fahrenheit water) still raises your body’s core temperature about one degree, causing you to burn more calories. So although you probably shouldn’t ditch your daily workout quite yet, there are some sweet health perks to taking a soak in the tub, too.

Wait, there’s more! “As well as the cardiovascular effects of passive heating, there is evidence to suggest that there may be beneficial metabolic effects as well—such as better control of blood sugar,” said Steve Faulkner, a research associate from Loughborough University.

When researchers examined the participants’ blood sugar levels for 24 hours after the test, they discovered that participants’ peak blood sugar was around 10 percent lower if they had taken a bath instead of a bike ride. It also reduced inflammation for the same participants.

Skip-Your-Walk-and-Take-a-Bath,-Instead—Science-Says-So!nd3000/shutterstock

But before you hop in the tub, science still has some work to do. All of this study’s participants were men, and with such a small sample size, it’s hard to definitively conclude the results (much less the results for women, specifically). Still, when push comes to shove, a grown-up bath is not only the stress melter you need right now. It could also be a great activity if you want trim down—without a lick of exercise!

Whispering Waters - An Escape to Blue Ridge Cabin

Read article : Whispering Waters - An Escape to Blue Ridge Cabin

If you’re considering a North Georgia cabin rental for your next vacation and love the mountains, the woods and the water, you don’t have to choose--you’ll find all three in one magical spot at the lyrically named Whispering Waters.

Located in Mineral Bluff, 12 miles from downtown Blue Ridge, and 10 miles from Lake Blue Ridge and all the recreational activities it has to offer, the cabin sits on a private two-acre lot with breathtaking long-range mountain views and a stream running down the wooded valley year round.

With nature providing the backdrop and the soundtrack, your experience will be different depending on when you visit. Beautiful dogwoods bloom in spring, snow blankets the trees in winter, autumn brings brilliant colors and the sound of crickets, fireflies twinkle in early summer and you’ll hear the katydids chirp in late summer.

Designed for comfort, relaxation and entertaining, the recently updated cabin is constructed of pine top to bottom, with enormous new windows throughout to better appreciate the view. The main living area, with its wood-burning stone fireplace, dimmer controlled chandeliers, leather sofa with two built-in recliners and 12-foot glass French doors/sidelights facing the deck, invites you to kick back and relax. The 55” smart flat screen TV is on a swivel mount that allows for viewing from just about anywhere on the main level. There’s high-speed WiFi throughout the home.

The kitchen is fully stocked with every appliance, gadget and serving piece you’ll need to prepare your meals; crockpot, Keurig, hand mixer, blender, coffee maker, electric griddle, electric frying pan, and rice cooker included. The dining table seats six, but expands with leaves to accommodate ten, and there’s seating for two at the granite-topped kitchen island on leather bar stools.

Or fire up the gas grill and enjoy a barbecue on the partially covered deck, where there’s a wood-burning hand-built stone masonry fireplace, dining and picnic tables, and ceiling fans with dimmable lighting. Afterward, you can soak your cares away in the hot tub on the private side patio, which has room for six.

When it’s time to retire for the night, you’ll slumber in comfort in either of the two master bedrooms, both featuring king beds with Tempurpedic mattresses, Pottery Barn duvets and shams, ceiling fans, digital clocks with USB ports for charging your cell phones, and 42” flat screen smart TVs. The main level master has a walk-in closet and front deck access, and the upstairs master has a private bath with granite vanity, pine floor, and walk-in glass round shower

Also on the main floor is a bunkroom tailor-made for kids, with twin bunk beds with a twin trundle, a bay window with window seat, a round gaming table and two chairs, a digital clock with USB port, and a 42” flat screen smart TV. There is a bookshelf containing books, puzzles, games, and cards for entertainment pleasure. The adjacent bathroom has a tub/shower, granite vanity, and tile floor. A full-size washer and dryer is located in one of two closets in the bunk room.

Perfect for families with older children, couples and getaways with your BFFs, Whispering Waters offers a calm and cozy retreat from the stresses of everyday life in a magnificent setting. You’ll cherish those peaceful memories long after you’ve left the mountains behind.

Cool hotel - Review of Alto Hotel on Bourke, Melbourne

We spent 4 nights in a Studio Queen room on the first floor and we were very happy with our stay. The staff, from Jackie on arrival at midnight to Gary, Melissa and Sylvia among others, were all extremely helpful and friendly and could not do enough for us. They printed out tickets to the footie for us, took care of our broken suitcase and made recommendations for nearby restaurants. Our room was a reasonable size for two, clean, felt "new", comfortable bed, small bathroom but good sized shower. Our room overlooked a quiet alleyway down the side of the building and we didn't hear much noise including on Friday and Saturday nights. There was no view to speak of but then we were not in the room for long, we didn't even make much use of the 130 Foxtel channels. The breakfast room is small but we never had a problem getting a table. The buffet had a good selection and the cooked breakfast choices were good too (and better still, included!). We liked all the Green aspects to our stay including the recycling bins, reusing towels and linen, the rooftop honey. The location is excellent, a hop, skip and a jump from the Skybus and Southern Cross station and the free tram zone and of course only about 5 minutes walk to Etihad stadium.
The building itself has a bit of history, read the notes in the Compendium in your room and take a look for yourself at the terrazzo floor in reception.
There are newspapers in the breakfast room that you can take to read as well as a small library if you want a book to read. You can also make yourself tea and coffee there at any time.
We would happily stay here again on our next trip to Melbourne and would recommend it to anybody else.

Pocket-sized gadget repurposes plastic water bottle into a portable shower or wash station : TreeHugger

Read article : Pocket-sized gadget repurposes plastic water bottle into a portable shower or wash station : TreeHugger

Sometimes I see a product and instantly notice how incredibly useful it could be, and yet how simple the concept is, both of which makes me think, "I wish I had thought of that." This little pocket-sized gadget, which repurposes a plastic water bottle into a portable shower or wash station, is one of those.

For about 6 years, my family and I lived in a tiny house (OK, it was actually a small travel trailer, but same difference) without a shower or bath. In order to get clean, we used a portable camping shower hung from a tree, which turned us all into experts at getting clean with just a small amount of water. But the smallest solar shower we could find was a 3-gallon sized one, which was plenty large enough for several showers, but almost too big to fill up and get hot for spontaneous showers.

So when I read about the SpaTap, I was a bit envious that we never ended up inventing a similar solution for ourselves, especially when considering the wide variety of situations where a tiny portable shower or wash station could come in handy.

The SpaTap is a deceptively simple device, and it takes advantage of one of our culture's most common items, the plastic water bottle. Even if you don't buy bottled water, chances are you can pick one out of the nearest recycle bin or trash can, and put it to use washing your food, your hands, or your entire body.

To use the SpaTap, simply slip it over the neck of a standard plastic water bottle, hang it up with the strap or some cord (or hold it for someone else to use), then remove the plug from the side of it, which allows the water to flow out from the perforated shower head. The device instantly becomes a produce wash station, a handwashing station, or a shower, and could be a great addition to a car first aid kit, camping gear, an emergency preparedness kit, a diaper bag, or your sports gear bag.

[embedded content]

"For too long plastic bottles have been going into the ocean or landfill. Lack of awareness and alternative uses of this resource continues to have dire consequences for our marine health, wildlife and pollution. Recycling is great but is only part of the answer, we can also upcycle which is the top of the list as far as environmentally friendly procedures go. Upcycling is re-purposing a waste material and turning it into something useful." - SpaTap Founder Stuart Mason

According to the SpaTap website, a single 2 liter water bottle can deliver 3 showers or 20 hand washes, with bigger bottles obviously being able to handle more showers or longer use, and is said to be virtually indestructible. Constructed of "medical grade silicone," the device is safe for use around food and for drinking, and is claimed to be made from an "anti bacterial and anti microbial material."

The bad news is, the SpaTap isn't available for purchase just yet. The good news is, the team behind this portable pocket shower is using the power of crowdfunding to launch it, with a Kickstarter campaign beginning on Monday, June 2nd. Backers of that campaign will be able to grab one for themselves with a pledge of just $18 AUD (~$17 USD), for delivery this November.

Fun with Fiberglass

Lightweight molded-fiberglass RVs are designed for long-term durability and improved mpg — and they look cool, too

RVs are constructed in a number of different ways, but many follow the same basic blueprint: Start with a steel or aluminum frame, build up the walls with wood and/or aluminum, more framing and composite materials, cover the structure with a roof and wrap the entire unit with either aluminum panels or gelcoat fiberglass. While conventional construction methods work well, another successful strategy has been in place for years and continues to flourish: molded fiberglass.

RVs built from molded fiberglass are sleek and shiny, and share their origins with the marine industry (think boat hull). In a molded-fiberglass trailer, fifth-wheel or truck camper, the rigid fiberglass body actually serves as the main framing element, as well as the interior and exterior skin. The body of the RV is essentially two pieces that clamshell together, resulting in a durable, corrosion-resistant body that is quite strong and can have several advantages over traditionally built RVs.

<a href=Casita Spirit Deluxe" width="400" height="267" />Casita Spirit Deluxe

“The two-piece fiberglass shell has one main seam around the center belt line,” explains Grant Bilodeau, president of Bigfoot RV. “Traditional trailers are made of many separate side, floor and roof panels, and are then screwed together with many moldings and seals. As RVs are meant to travel down the road, a traditional trailer will flex over time, and all the extra seams and joints become higher maintenance and risk points for leaking. With a fiberglass trailer, thereis only one seam to worry about.”

“Fiberglass molded trailers are sprayed into a mold with gelcoat and fiberglass,” Bilodeau adds. “The glass content is like the rebar in concrete — it gives you all your strength, as the resin binds it all together.”

Fiberglass construction can also lead to some positive results when it comes to fuel mileage, handling and durability. “Our fiberglass campers are 25 percent lighter than conventionally built truck campers,” says Keith Donkin, general manager at Northern Lite Manufacturing. “They are very aerodynamically designed for improved fuel efficiency, and they feature a very low center of gravity, which eliminates the sway of a conventionally built camper.”

Improved towing characteristics and longevity do come with a trade-off. Molded-fiberglass RVs can be a bit more costly than their conventionally built counterparts. But manufacturers of fiberglass RVs claim the difference in price can easily be amortized over the lifetime of the RV.

Dub-Box USADub-Box USA

“Generally, people like our trailers because they are easy to tow, easy to set up, and they last forever,” reports Kent Eveland, president of Scamp Trailers. “Most of the trailers we built in the 1970s are still in use.”

Robert P. Partee, general sales manager of Oliver Travel Trailers, agrees. “Most fiberglass trailers hold their value over the years much better than the standard-build types,” he says. “Constructing travel trailers with fiberglass has been flying under the radar for years.”

Often eclectic, sometimes retro-chic and always eye-catching, molded-fiberglass RVs are frequently the focus of online communities and club rallies. “We find our trailers appeal to all ages in part because of the nostalgia factor, as well as the simplicity and weight,” says Heather Gardella, president of Dub Box USA.

Check out the following collection of some of the more interesting fiberglass RVs on the market today.

Bigfoot

Bigfoot Industries manufactures a variety of travel trailers and truck campers, all featuring clamshell molded-fiberglass construction.

Bigfoot actually overlaps the top shell onto the bottom and uses a special sealant to further guard against water penetration. The 2500 series travel trailers include R-8 insulation, which, when combined with the fiberglass base (less conductive than aluminum or steel), creates a more livable four-season RV, according to Bilodeau. Seven floorplans ranging from 17 to 25 feet are available. The 25B25FB boasts a full rear bath, sleeping space for up to six and standards that include a porcelain toilet, aluminum wheels, heated and enclosed tanks, and aliving-area skylight. The option to enclose the A-frame and add cargo space is not only practical but looks great as well. Other options includea solar-power system, 11,000-Btu roof air conditioner, exterior speakers and an electric A-frame jack.

Casita

Casita1
CasitaSpecs

For 33 years, Casita has been building lightweight fiberglass trailers. The 17-foot Casita Spirit Deluxe offers comfortable sleeping arrangements for three, with a bit more space for guests, provided they are of the smaller variety. Both sleeping areas convert to dinettes by day, meaning the trailer can easily accommodate more than it can sleep before the sun goes down. A couch/bunk-bed option ups the ante even more. The surprisingly wide-open floorplan means occupants won’t trip over each other while moving about. In Deluxe models, a large, full-featured bathroom is located at the front of the trailer, as is a roomy storage wardrobe. Standard features include custom marine-grade fiberglass furniture, carpet-lined storage compartments and a powered roof vent. Owners can also opt for LED lighting, a microwave, an electric A-frame jack and a larger gray-water holding tank.

Dub Box trailers are not true Volkswagen conversions but are in fact manufactured from a fiberglass mold made from the vintage VW Bus. Each Dub Box trailer comes equipped with classic moon-style hubcaps, a hot/cold outdoor shower, a two-burner stove, a sink, a 3-cubic-foot refrigerator, an LP-gas water heater, an L-shaped convertible couch with 4-inch cushions, a folding dinette table and Sunbrella weather curtains for the pop-top. Options include air conditioning, solar panels, a luggage roof rack and a storage box on the A-frame. Buyers get to select the paint color for the exterior to match their tow vehicle.

Eggcamper trailers are ultralightweight and offer a fun way to enjoy RVing. Available only from the factory in Grandville, Michigan, and weighing less than 2,000 pounds (dry, without options), the Eggcamper can be towed by almost any properly equipped truck, van or SUV. The all-white trailers may look spartan inside, but they contain all the amenities needed for weekend fun, including sleeping space for two to four, a galley with a stainless sink, a 2.4-cubic-foot refrigerator, available air-conditioner, appliances and a lavatory with a toilet (or a large storage area instead). Plus, the smooth interior makes cleanup a breeze. The Dexter Torflex suspension is a welcome inclusion, as are the power roof vent and radius safety-glass windows with screens and miniblinds. LP-gas options are available, in addition to the electric-only model powered by an appropriately sized AC generator, along with the standard 30-amp converter with charger.

Escape

Another big name in the molded-fiberglass market is Escape Trailers. Based in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Escape offers several fiberglass travel trailers and more recently introduced a fifth-wheel. All Escape trailers are compact and lightweight for easy towing, and the Escape 21 is designed specifically for tow vehicles with weight ratings down to 5,000 pounds. But don’t be fooled by the diminutive size. Escape trailers are equipped with full galleys, bathrooms and living areas, in addition to oak cabinetry, high-grade linoleum flooring and an insulated headliner. Other impressive standards include two roof vents, LED ceiling lighting, full-surround overhead storage and a holding-tank monitor. Popular options range from appliance upgrades to a stereo, a water filter and a solar charging system.

In addition to offering vintage restored fiberglass rentals, Happier Camper now builds the unique HC1 trailer. The base-price HC1 begins as an empty shell built using bonded double-hull fiberglass with 1.5-inch honeycomb fiberglass flooring. Grooves are embedded in the flooring to accommodate the modular components (think Legos) that will make up the custom floorplan, including a kitchenette, benches, cushions, an AC/DC refrigerator cube, tables, floor panels — there’s even a portable-potty cube. Buyers can configure the layout exactly as they’d like it, and the price is determined by the selected modules. LED lighting comes standard, as do built-in rear stabilizing jacks and an undercarriage-mounted full-size spare tire. Add-ons include compatible comfort heating, stereos, electric fans and moon-style hubcaps.

Read article : Spring Fragrance Round up: What’s New from Creed, Lanvin, Molton Brown and More!

dyptique-sensa-spring-fragrances-lanvin-molton-brownChoosing a signature scent is a very personal experience. With new fragrances launching daily, it’s hard to sift through and yet there is something about the weather changing that gets me all excited for those more flirty floral scents. Brands like Ulta and Sephora will organize by top rated (Sephora also features what’s new) which are great resources. For me I need to experience a fragrance in person so I have been non-stop attending fragrance previews and have an entirely new updated scent range for the season. Here’s what were excited about:
creed-princess-oud-lanvin-spring-fragrancess

Raw Spirit Desert Blush: All of the fragrances featured above are new with the exception of Desert Blush from Raw Spirit (the rollerball shown above). I recently discovered the brand and have become instantly enamored. This is the fragrance I travel with and makes me feel so pretty and feminine every time I put it on. Inspired by the Western Australian desert, the scent is based around Australian boronia, a tiny pink blossom known for it’s sweet, citrusy aroma. Blended with notes of jasmine petals and violets mixed with warm musk, cedarwood and Australian sandalwood.

creed-royal-princess-oud

Creed Royal Princess Oud: Master perfumer Olivier Creed created a captivating scent featuring notes of floral iris at the heart and oud at the base. This woody floral fragrance features the signature note of oud, a historical ingredient that’s expensive and rare, perfectly fitting for a captivating and passionate fragrance. You have to be an Oud lover (obviously) for this to be your new signature scent but like everything Creed does it’s sophisticated, rich and unique. It was a Neiman Marcus Beauty Award Finalist and available in two sizes, 1oz and 2.5oz (photoed above).
Molton-Brown-Dewy-Lily-of-the-Valley

Molton Brown Dewy Lily of the Valley & Star Anise: London’s fragrance expert, Molton Brown unveiled a modern interpretation of a classic scent inspired by the elegant purity of a luxurious bridal bouquet. The collection, including bath and shower gel, body lotion, Eau de Toilette, hand cream, candle and aroma reeds, celebrates the leading note: lily of the valley with additional notes of star anise, green mandarin and white tea. I grew up with Lily of the Valley in my backyard and this scent takes me back to walks in the woods. Be on the lookout for this collection starting March 21st!
lanvin-fleurs-fragrance

Lanvin Éclat de Fleurs: A fruity, floral bouquet, Éclat de Fleurs blends the refined fragrance of flowers with the tangy scent of fruit, making it perfect for spring. The head note of a succulent pear accord creates a sensation of colorful freshness. Following this airy top note, the floral heart note gradually releases roses with the mellowness of Sambac Jasmin. The base notes are a sweetness of white musk with the creaminess of Sandalwood.
dyptique-eau-de-sens-perfume

Diptyque Eau de Sens: The latest fragrance from Diptyque carries the scent of orange blossom, Juniper berries and Patchouli. It’s a beautiful mix of citrus with some unexpected woody notes that’s so unbelievably lovely. Eau de Sense is available in three fragrance sizes as well as in a soap bar.

ferragamo-signorina-fragrance

Ferragamo Signorina Misteriosa: Signorina Misteriosa is Ferragamo’s newest fragrance, celebrating a woman’s mysterious side. The daring Eau de Parfum was developed by perfumers Sophie Labbé and Nicolas Beaulieu and infuses notes of blackberry, neroli, orange blossom, tuberose, patchouli and black vanilla mousse. It’s very exotic and unique and the perfect fragrance to take you from day to night. Available in two sizes 1.7oz and 3.4oz on Macys.com.

carthusia-essence-in-the-park-perfume

Carthusia Essence of The Park: A few months back I went to a lunch for Carthusia. Hailing from Capri it’s a beautiful heritage brand with a rich history and wide array of fragrances, candles and home fragrances. Their latest scent is a sparkling floral evoking the most cherished scents of the outdoors. The scent contains a transporting blend of luminous magnolia, winter honeysuckle and cooling Artemisia. Experience the whole collection at C.O. Bigelow

clean-blossom-fragrance

Clean Blossom: A very floral and powdery scent that isn’t overpowering and inspired by a natural spring scattered with freshly fallen petals. Blending Tunisian neroli, orange blossom, and sensual sandalwood, this feminine scent transports you to a beautiful floral garden. Also available in a rollerball on birchbox.com.

What fragrances are you excited about for the season!? Let me know! xoLara

Types Of Walk-In Bathtubs - The Senior List

Read article : Types Of Walk-In Bathtubs - The Senior List

Did you know that (more than) one in three seniors over age 65 fall each year?  The National Institute on Aging (NIA) reports that 80% of these falls are in the bathroom.  To prevent such occurrences, many families consider walk-in bathtubs to mitigate the risk of injuries.  Walk-in bathtubs are great considerations for the less mobile among us.  For aging adults, falls can lead to debilitating injuries.  Today’s post focuses on the different types of walk-in bathtubs available.

Walk In Tubs get quotes from the best providers

What are walk-in bathtubs?  Walk-in bathtubs are an alternative to a traditional bathtub.  Walk-in tubs have doors on them.  They open up so the user doesn’t have to step over a leading edge like you might find on a conventional bathtub. Walk-in bathtubs can be safer alternatives for elderly and/or disabled individuals, but there are many different types of walk-in bathtubs.  If you’re considering a new walk-in type tub, you need to know your options.

Soaker Tub

types of walk-in bathtubsA soaker tub is a basic walk-in bathtub.  It has no hydrotherapy jets, and is generally less expensive than other models with additional features.  This is considered an entry-level walk-in tub.  A soaker tub comes with a leak-proof door, usually includes a grab bar and a hand-held shower accessory.

Hydrotherapy Tub

A hydrotherapy tub includes the leak-proof door, and some additional options that help with circulation in some folks.  These tubs come with water jets (and usually air jets as well) in order to circulate and/or agitate the water.  It feels good, and it  can help loosen up stiff joints and muscles.

A bariatric tub is a walk-in bathtub made for larger individuals.  You can purchase a bariatric tub with minimal features, or all the bells and whistles like water jets, etc.

Wheel-Chair Accessible Tub

Wheelchair Accessible Walk-In Bathtub

The wheelchair accessible walk-in tub usually has an outward opening door frame, and allows for the easy transfer from the chair to the tub.

As you can see, there are many different types of walk-in bathtubs.  Wheelchair accessible showers are another area of interest, and a topic for a later discussion.  Be aware that these walk-in tubs can get expensive.  Another consideration is the installation, which can range from $500 to $5,000 depending on what is necessary for the job.  If you’re worried about the safety of your loved one at home and the bathroom is a concern, see a professional about adding industrial grade grab-bars, and other safety equipment in and around the bathtub or shower.  You’ll be glad you did.
