I built this outdoor garden shower so after I tend the garden and yard work in this Florida heat and humidity I could take a nice outdoor shower instead of tramping through the house for one. At first I was just going to put a shower head up but on 2nd thought I hate cold showers! So I decided to check out Craigslist for a 30 gallon water heater but just for the tank not to heat the water, as long as it held water without leaking that’s all I wanted it for. I found one for $60 bucks. I strip it and mount it in the attic of the shed and thought maybe just the summer heat would get it hot. Well it got warm but not warm enough for me. So I made a solar collector and attached that to the tank. I used CPVC for the collector and and PVC for the rest of the piping. I used 1/4” plate glass on the collector frame only because that’s what I had hanging around my shop. I built two bi-fold blinds using some dog eared fence boards some cedar two rod’s to stabilize the Bi-folds and some Red PVC sign board bent in a U to hold the Bi-Folds open in the wind while I shower. My next door neighbor .. well she giggled and blushed a little when I told her what I was doing.
Today was a nice sunny day and the temperature outside was about 90 degrees today, the water temp got up to 120. The little collector is working great and the water is just the way I like it , HOT! I’ll use this every chance I get to save a little cash! It’s just my wife and I and she likes it too!

Initially built to cater to the Hospitality Management students of Lyceum - Northwestern University, Hotel Le Duc in Dagupan City opened as a hotel in 2014. Managed by the university's College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management, it is a 30-room, 5-storey hotel located right beside the Lyceum-Northwestern University along Tapuac district, Dagupan City, Pangasinan. Catering to local and foreign tourists visiting this side of the Northern Philippines, this is definitely one of the most modern and newest hotels in Dagupan City.

Coming from Manila, we arrived at the bus station in the city center of Dagupan City. We then took a tricycle to get to Hotel Le Duc which is about 10 minutes away from the bus terminal.

Upon arriving at the hotel, we were warmly welcomed by the hotel staff and assisted us with checking-in. Since it was still very early, our room was not yet ready as it is still occupied by that time. We decided to just leave our luggage in our friends' room and went out to have lunch.

We went back at around 1:00 PM and we're able to check-in. Upon entering our room, I was quite impressed with the room's size. It is quite big and pleasantly fixed.

The room features modern and classy interiors with top-notch amenities designed for business and leisure travelers. It is characterized with earth tone shades of beige, brown and white which gives a very calming and relaxing feel. The room smells fresh, clean and feels very airy as there were not too much clutter inside the room. Only the much-needed amenities are inside.

Our room, which is a Deluxe Room is equipped with the much needed amenities needed for a comfortable stay. It has individually-controlled air-conditioning unit, a small work desk, telephone, luggage rack, a closet and a breakfast nook. Wi-Fi connectivity anywhere in the hotel connects you to the internet and a cable-ready LED TV will keep you entertained. Truly, every guest will have a relaxing stay here.

It has one queen-sized bed with small bed tables on both sides. It has fresh clean white sheets, pillows and blanket that perfectly compliment it. I hurriedly tried it! It is firm and not too soft, which I like! I just hope they use comforters instead of blankets.

The room also features a glass window with an access door on the side leading to a private veranda. No smoking is allowed inside the room, you may do it in the veranda.

The toilet and bathroom is also spacious and looks very clean. It has an enclosed shower area with hot and cold shower. The water pressure is good, the water closet has a bidet and it also comes with basic toiletries and bathroom amenities such as shampoo with conditioner, bath soap and dental care kits. The bath towels are soft and all smell fresh! I couldn't ask for more, all I need are already here!

With this kind of amenities, every guest will surely have a relaxing and comfortable stay that they'll end up just staying inside the comforts of their room.

We were given the chance to check on the other rooms. I like the hotel's long hallways accentuated with nice paintings and adequate lighting.

A smaller and cheaper room that could accommodate up to 2 persons. It also comes with an air-conditioning unit, an LCD TV with cable channels, cabinet and en suite toilet and bath with hot a cold shower and toiletries.

It has the same amenities with our Deluxe Room. The only difference is the bed configuration as this room comes in 2 double beds joined together by a small bed table and can accommodate up to 4 persons.

The largest and grandest among all the rooms at Hotel Le Duc. The Presidential Suite has one king-sized bed, a small living area, cabinets, a breakfast nook, working desk, luggage rack, LCD television set and other amenities needed for a comfortable stay. At the time of our visit last January 2015, their restaurant is not yet open. But they are planning to open it this 1st quarter of 2015.

Bistro Florence will be Hotel Le Duc's in-house restaurant offering a wide selection of local and international dishes to cater to hotel and non-hotels guests.

We were able to see its interiors and I must say, "it looks very classy and elegant!" I will definitely dine here when I visit Dagupan City soon!

There are also food shops just outside the hotel and a 24-hour convenience store nearby. So getting hungry anytime of the day will not be a problem.

Description

Drumman is a fine period farmhouse set amidst fertile Co Meath lands between the village of Duleek and close to Balrath Cross. The house which is two storeys is centrally located within the farm and is approached by two avenues from different roads.

The main avenue is a tarmacadam road which meanders up through the lands and turns over a hump back stone railway bridge and eventually opens to the lawned approach which is framed by impressive mature trees. There is also a rear or farm entrance coming in from another road and which leads to the house via the farm yard.

Drumman House dates back to the 1700's and is presented in top class condition throughout. It retains many period features while is still a very manageable size. Drumman also boasts a fine 2 bedroom newly restructured, modern L shaped Gate lodge which was completely re built in 2010. Drumman House was totally re-furbished in 2002.
A short distance from the main house lies some extensive old yards including single storey and lofted sheds, machinery lean-to's and a modern range of sheds with concrete floors and single phase electricity installed.

The lands which surround the property are of good quality free draining soil presently laid out in good sized divisions.

Accommodation

The Main House
Approx. 231 sq. m / 2494 sq. ft.

Glazed entrance porch with tiled floor leads through to attractive entrance hall, which is large and bright with centre rose and staircase. The drawing room has a timber floor, a feature carved timber mantelpiece and a fitted wood burning stove.

The dining room with timber floor and feature carved mantelpiece with attractive Victorian decorative inset with painted tiles. From the dining room a door leads through to the Butler's pantry and kitchen. The kitchen has a timber floor, traditional kitchen units, large Belfast sink and granite worktop. Classic 5 plate gas cooker with ovens and electric hob.

The Butler's pantry also has a small Belfast sink, large worktop area and range of fitted cupboards and presses. Off the back hall are the guest WC/ cloak room with WC and wash basin and also the utility room with tiled floor, plumbed for washing machine and dryer, fitted cupboards and hot-press area. This leads to the small office with tiled floor and cupboards which in turn leads through to the sunroom with timber floor and glazed all round, beneath a leaded roof. There is a door through to the garden area, with well-kept lawns.

On the first floor there is a large bright landing with timber floor. There are three double bedrooms at this level. The Master bedroom leads into an en suite shower room which in turn leads through to bathroom with WC, bidet and pedestal wash basin.

Bedroom 2 and 3 both have timber floors and dual aspects. Main bathroom features a tiled floor, pedestal wash hand basin, WC and large bath with shower attachment.

The Gate Lodge
Approx.169.5 sq. m / 1825 sq. ft.

A very fine L-shaped gate lodge completely reconstructed about 6 years ago with a stone and brick exterior, underneath a slate roof. The accommodation is as follows:

Fine entrance hall with ceramic tiled floor and recessed lighting. Large open plan living room and kitchen with fine white marble fireplace, solid fuel stove, recessed lighting, and concealed radiators. The kitchen area has a ceramic tiled floor, large timber centre island unit with breakfast counter/ worktop a range of fitted cupboards with granite worktop, Belfast sink, fitted cupboards, dishwasher and fridge-freezer. Large gas fitted (Stoves) cooker with 2 ovens and grill and 7 plate gas hob and recessed lighting. The utility room is off the main hall and is plumbed for washing machine and dryer. There is also a small back porch/boot room which leads out to the back of the house.

The main bathroom is fully tiled with bath, WC, wash basin, shower, hot towel rail and access to attic. Bedroom 1 (Master suite)is a large bright bedroom with timber floor and a fine en suite bathroom, fully tiled with large shower, WC, hot towel rail, wash basin and recessed lighting.

Bedroom 2 is a generous size with timber floor and cupboard.
Large living room with timber floor, fitted bookshelves, feature open brick fireplace with stone surround and double doors to the garden.

Summer House

The summer house or sporting lodge has been used as a club house for the shooting range. It is situated down the farm and is approached by its own roadway. The building is approx. 95 sq m / 1,019 sq ft in size and would suit many purposes.

Yard Buildings

The main yard has two original two storey farm buildings which house a range of rooms including stores, workshops, the old tack room, former stalls and cow barn with loft overhead. The third building is open sided and has a lean too machinery store to the rear. These farm buildings are suitable for conversion to several uses including an enclosed stable yard or residential quarters.

The large barn is found to the rear of the yard and it has concrete floor and walls to 6 ft, cladded with corrugated iron walls and roof, it includes 2 large enclosed rooms. The measurements of this building are 14 m x 36.4 m.

Lands

The lands comprise 41.28 ha / 102 acres which are currently set in tillage, grass and there is 8 acres in forestry and natural habitat.

Have you ever had a mud bath? Have you ever heard of something or saw a picture or video of something and just decided you had to do it? Well that was me after I saw a picture of a friend on Instagram taking a Napa Valley mud bath. Last summer I went on a girl’s getaway to Napa Valley. While planning our trip, I mentioned to the ladies that we should do a spa day. There are amazing spas all over Napa Valley but Calistoga is known as the mud bath capital of the U.S.! The mud in Calistoga contains volcanic ash. It is mixed with mineral water located in the hot springs. This combination is thought to be very healing and nutritious for the skin. I just learned there is actually a name for this-“fangotherapy”. These are treatments that involve mud.

Our Napa Valley mud bath adventure began when we checked into Indian Springs Resort & Spa in Calistoga. It is a beautiful tropical oasis in Calistoga. The resort itself consists of a lodge, bungalows and cottages of Spanish architecture. They have several pools including the Olympic size mineral pool. SF magazine named the pool at Indian Springs “2016 Best Pool”. It was recently remodeled and offers poolside dining and beverage service. In addition, Sam’s Social Club offers American cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We checked into the spa which offers massages, body treatments, facials and of course-mud & mineral baths.

From our arrival at Indian Springs spa the service was impeccable. It was a party of 9 women but they handled all our appointments with ease. A few of the ladies in our party decided to be brave and try the mud bath. We were first directed to a changing and relaxation area. One of the things I loved about this property was the indoor outdoor feel. The relaxation area was located outside with water fountains, creeks and palms trees. Prior to our mud bath, we were asked to rinse off in the shower and remove…everything! Yes it is a bath so you were expected to do it naked. However, you are not in a private room. There were 4 mud bath tubs in a large room with showers located on the back wall. Fortunately, one of my friends was in the bath right next to me. We really bonded that day lol. The mud was very heavy and very warm. Once inside the tub a spa assistant covered us from neck to toe in mud and even smothered some on our cheeks. We were told to relax in the bath for 15-20 minutes. And guess what-it was relaxing! After the bath we were escorted to the showers. The mud was surprisingly easy to wash off. My skin didn’t initially feel any different but the treatment did not stop there.

After the mud bath and our showers we sat in a mineral bath in an adjacent room. After the mineral bath we were led into a steam room for about 10 minutes. This was followed by a room in which you were alone, laying on a bed cooling off for about 10-15 minutes. I can’t even explain to you how pampered and relaxed I felt at that moment! And yes, my skin did feel incredibly soft. And, the spa day kept going! It was time for my massage. After my 50 minute massage I joined my friends at one of the outdoor pools surrounded by gorgeous plants and mountainous views of Napa Valley. I honestly did not want to leave!

5 Outstanding service!

Yesterday I needed a replacement flow valve for a five year old shower and discovered that far from being a universal part, there are hundreds of different ones used and most unobtainable as spare parts. I tried several plumbers merchants who could not help, only sympathise and two mentioned this firm as probably being able to help. Despite a lifetime of house improvements, I had never heard of them and never pass through that part of Bristol so never saw them either.
They did not have My valve but recommended an online specialist who might BUT most impressively, they stripped and cleaned up my old valve to give a few more weeks service until I could get a replacement! What good service! Most importantly though, it was watching them dealing with customers with genuine deep knowledge, real assistance, bright, prompt and efficient service and a real change to see good old fashioned customer service standards rarely found today. As I say, I had never heard of them but will return!

A broken tub diverter can reduce the water pressure of your shower.

The little knob on the end of your tub spout is the diverter. When you raise the diverter with the water running, it "diverts" the water from the spout to the showerhead. Over time, the diverter can wear out. When this happens, it reduces the water pressure for the shower, because not enough water diverts from the spout. A replacement tub spout is an inexpensive fix to your diverter dilemma, and you can change it to match your bathroom decor.

Look for a small setscrew on the underside of the spout next to the wall. Use a hex key to remove the setscrew and pull the spout off the supply pipe. If your tub spout does not have a setscrew, insert a heavy-duty screwdriver into the spout opening and twist it counterclockwise to remove it from the supply pipe.

Measure the length of the supply pipe from the wall to the tip. Take the measurement and the original tub spout to a home improvement center or a plumbing supply store. This will ensure you get the correct replacement spout with the proper diverter location that fits your supply pipe.

Before installing the new spout and diverter, wipe the threads on the end of the supply pipe with a rag. Wrap the threads with two or three layers of thread-seal tape. Use silicone caulk to seal around the supply pipe where it enters the wall, if necessary.

Slide the new spout over the supply pipe and tighten the setscrew to secure it. If your spout screws on, slide it over the pipe and turn it clockwise with your hand.

Wrap masking tape around the teeth on a pair of tongue-and-groove pliers to protect the new spout. Use the pliers to tighten the spout to the pipe. Do not over-tighten the spout as you could damage the wall and the pipe.
