Read article : Letter: Bath library move just wouldn’t be fair on disabled children
I don’t think the library should move to the One Stop Shop because it won’t be fair on disabled children.
I love reading books and my favourites are ones where I can imagine what it’s like to be in someone else’s head.
When I read Heidi I felt what it was like to use a wheelchair. It made me think how lucky I am to be able to run around and do cartwheels whenever I like.
People in wheelchairs can do amazing things (just look at the Paralympians – they’re superhumans!) but Heidi’s friend, Clara, would find it really difficult to get around the library if it was on three floors instead of one.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time is a book about a boy with a mental disability. Christopher finds it hard to be in cramped places full of signs and noise.
In The Podium, the children’s section is a lovely calm place, but he wouldn’t like the One Stop Shop.
He wouldn’t be able to get past lots of busy desks with council stuff going on because he has big panics in places like that and gets so upset he never wants to go back.
There’s a girl in my infants who has help with her learning and finds it difficult to walk.
Our school made changes so she could feel welcome and cared for and get around like everyone else. She even has her own special room with a shower in it!
Some of the problems with Lewis House can be fixed too, but you can’t make three small floors into one big space specially built to make everyone happy and welcome like the library is right now.
I’d like my granny – she’s called Granny Sparkle – to still be able to come with me to the library too, but she walks with a stick and would probably start making excuses not to go if it moves to Lewis House.
For her, the One Stop Shop is a really long walk from the middle of town and she’d get tired out before she even got there. I think if the library has to move at all it should still be a library everyone can use.
