Stall Size Shower Curtains for a Stately Bathroom

Read article : Stall Size Shower Curtains for a Stately Bathroom
If you have a stall shower, then having a shower curtain is a must for reasons mentioned above. You may not be aware, but apart from vinyl curtains (that are very popular and inexpensive), there are many other varieties to choose from. There are new styles, trends and patterns available that cater to every type of decor.
Types of Shower Curtains
Shower curtains are prominently made of vinyl or plastic. But, apart from these synthetic materials, you will also find curtains made of natural material like cotton, hemp, etc. Let us take a look, in brief, at the types and features of the different shower curtains.
These are the most popular or commonly used shower curtains. They are inexpensive, durable and waterproof or water-repellent. They are also easy-to-use and clean. As they are available in different sizes and colors, you can surely find one that suits the decor and overall look of your bathroom. Vinyl curtains are also found in exciting designs and themes, suitable for adults' as well as kids' bathroom. At the same time, solid color curtains are also very popular.
When it comes to use and applicability, polyester curtains are very much similar to vinyl curtains. 100% polyester is waterproof and easily washable (can be washed in a machine). It does not require any maintenance. On the other hand, you can also consider going for shower curtains made partly of cotton and partly of polyester. These curtains are perfectly suitable for contemporary as well as traditional decor. Vinyl and plastic shower curtains are suited for high-traffic bathrooms.
Cotton Fabric
Now, if you want something more elegant than plastic, then you can opt for cotton shower curtains. They are environment-friendly. They are also available in large number of colors and patterns. On the flip side, cleaning and maintaining these curtains is not as easy as cleaning vinyl or polyester ones. They take a longer time to dry and mildew quickly. However, you can look for cotton curtains that are treated to make them more water-resistant.
Hemp (a thick plant fiber) is yet another variety of natural material used to make shower curtains. One of its many advantages is that it is as mildew-resistant as vinyl; and as environment-friendly as cotton. Hemp naturally has antifungal and antibacterial properties, and hence, does not mildew easily. However, the only side effect of hemp is that it requires longer time to dry. Due to its absorbent properties, it tends to absorb water, and hence, needs extended drying.
The price of a shower curtain depends, exclusively, on the material used. While those made of vinyl and polyester are inexpensive, those made of natural materials like cotton and hemp are pricier. Fabric shower curtains require vinyl liners to protect them from mildew and stains. This may further increase the cost. But, mark it, fabric curtains definitely look more elegant and beautiful than vinyl.

Vinyl shower curtains based on themes are priced slightly higher than others. Due to availability of large number of designs and themes, you will surely find what you are looking for. If not, you can also customize one. Look out for manufacturers that make custom shower curtains, according to your specifications of color, material, design, etc. You can also look for designer label shower curtains.

Shower Curtain Designs
➡ Solid white and beige curtains are the most popular ones they match with most of the bathroom themes. Whereas, the second most common are polka-dotted ones.

➡ You can even opt for other solid colors like blue, green, maroon, black, violet, etc., as they are visually appealing and will also match / contrast your bathroom decor.

➡ If looking for shower curtains for kids' bathroom, then you can find the ones themed on popular cartoon characters, animals, cars, abstract art, etc.

➡ When it comes to themed shower curtains (usually of vinyl or polyester material), you will find that the aquatic theme is quite popular: with designs of droplets, fish, aquatic life, etc.

➡ Lastly, if you are looking for something unique, then try silhouette shower curtains. These are cool, intriguing, and will suit modern bathroom decor.

Shower screens are also, sometimes, used in place of shower curtains. However, they are expensive as compared to shower curtains. Secondly, curtains are more preferred as they are attractive and also easy to maintain and replace. With new styles and trends available, finding the perfect shower curtain to add some style to your shower, has become quite easier.

DIY Cheap, Quick, and Easy Bathroom Update

If you don't regularly follow my blog, we just moved to a house and we now have 3 full bathrooms and one half bath. I've been trying to fill this house with all my belongings from the 2 bedroom/2 bathroom condo I lived in before and it's expensive. I'm trying to save some money, but still make everything look beautiful because I love my new house and I want to show it off!

Needless to say, I saw this on Pinterest and needed to do something to replicate it. I was going to try it before in our condo, but there ended up being some problems with pulling it off. For one, I want to actually use my shower and I don't want water everywhere or soaking wet curtains. I believe they used actual curtains for this bathroom.

So the other day I was at the dollar store (one of them?) and found these white shower curtains and white shower curtain rings. I'm puzzling over which project I wanted to do with shower curtain rings when I thought of this bathroom upgrade and decided to try to do something similar to the above photo, but super cheap. I needed to put up a shower curtain anyways and worst case scenario, I'd have an extra shower curtain and an extra set of curtain rings... and it turns out I have a lot of projects pinned that use there. Also, I like to use cheap shower curtains under art projects. Just fold them up after playing with Play Doh or painting so you don't get anything on your floor.

I bought 2 white shower curtains and 2 sets of white shower curtain rings, totaling $4. My husband had bought some curtain drawbacks (or whatever they are) for $10 for a pair and we never used them. My project total ended up being $14.

image
Step 1: Hang two different matching shower curtains up, using two sets of shower curtain rings.
Take the two middle rings and hook them through each other as well.
image
Step 2: Put up your tie backs/curtain drawbacks. Daddy B did this for me
after telling me repeatedly that this wouldn't work.
image
Step 3: Arrange your curtains just like so. They're easy to unhook if you need to shower, but they really help spotlight how white and clean my bathtub looks right now. Haha. Let's see how long that lasts!
I may decide to add fabric flowers to the curtain drawbacks to hide the metal on the wall a bit better, but for right now I really like how it looks. Especially given that it was a $14 project! As you can see I pulled in my fabric "paintings" from a previous blog post, No-Sew Wall Art.

I am thoroughly delighted with the entire bathroom ensemble of lotion and soap dispensers, shower curtain set, waste basket, rugs, tissue dispenser, magazine rack, and soap dish. With no TV in there, I'm incredulous at how much more time I'm spending in the bathroom.

Great Quality

I bought the shower curtain to add a little animal print to bathroom decor; however, the curtain could have been a bit longer, but he quality was very nice and it still works with the shower opening I have.

I bought what I thought was identical to Burlington Coat Factories exact shower curtain through Zuma. Burlington's black in the print was much more richer & deeper in black & the gold is a true gold with Burlington in comparison to yours that is more in the family of tan. Had I not already seen Burlington's 1st I would have been contempt.I am using the shower curtains side by side to look like window curtains so they need to match. Unfortunately Burlington Coat Factory no longer carries this design by Zuma. The rest of my order is beautiful. Would love the lamps displayed with the comforter.

Absolutely beautiful. I had a difficult time finding a beige and black zebra print shower curtain. This item does not overwhelm you with zebra print. It adds just enough to keep the space light and elegant.

Just received yesterday, and lets just say I am picky, picky, picky. I love this shower curtain, the material is very nice with weight to it the colors are perfect for my bathroom, the beige color was lighter then my computer showed more of a linen color but in my opinion it looks even nicer. Could not be more happy with this purchase.

Nice shower curtain, haven't put it up yet but your service met our expectation would be a customer again .

Anonymous from wrote on August 24, 2011

I really like the shower hooks. My only suggestion would be to make the hook itself from heavier stuff as the colored button on the front is heavy and pulls the hook downward leaving little of the hook actually over the shower rod.

Anonymous from wrote on August 17, 2011

was very pleased with product and it matched my decor perfectly

Anonymous from wrote on August 02, 2011

The Zuma shower curtain is great quality. Along with the matching shower curtain hooks, waste basket, and soap dispenser it fits right in with the animal theme decor for the master bath & bedroom. It took several weeks for the shower curtain hooks to arive, but I was notified a few times by a Touch of Class that they were still on back order. I appreciate the updates.

Anonymous from wrote on March 31, 2011

I was very pleased when I opened up the Zuma Shower Curtain. The color shown in the picture is pretty true to color. Black is a soft micro fiber feel and the other fabrics are very heavy duty and nice.

I searched many sites in search of this product and was happy to find this rust proof, premium product.

I recently purchased the whole Zuma bathroom set. I was extremely pleased. Everything was exactly as it appeared in the catalog. Not only was I pleased with the merchandise, it was delivered even before it was promised. I will continue to shop with Touch of Class and will highly recommend it.

Photo Shower Curtains: Hang Your Favorite Images In The Bathroom

Read article : Photo Shower Curtains: Hang Your Favorite Images In The Bathroom

photoshowercurtains

Want a shower curtain that's a little more personal than the normal variety you can pick up in stores?  You can troll the kitschy bathroom decor sites, of course, and find an occasional gem (like this Periodic Table of Elements), but none of what you'll find will ever carry that intimate character which makes it all yours.

Photo Shower Curtain serves that need, churning out 100% custom prints based on images you send their way.  Want to shower alongside your favorite work of art?  A picture portait of Megan Fox, perhaps, to inspire you to clean those nooks and crannies (in case you ever get a girl like that ripping your clothes off)?  Maybe a shot from your last family vacation on the sandy beaches of Hawaii?

Whichever photograph you choose (at least 2 megapixels with clear focus required), simply send them in when you place your order.  Using a sublimation process that integrates images into fabric, the company can produce your one-of-a-kind shower curtain with a permanent print that looks as amazing as the photograph it came from.  According to the site, all their curtains are made from 100% polyester poplin, which can be laundered with no danger of fading or shrinking.

If you're performing custom decors and other similar personalized styling to your bathrooms, you can discuss particular curtain designs with the company's in-house artists to score some ideas.  Single orders go between $149 to $199, with a two to four week delivery schedule.  Multiple orders, in case you want to commission a few hundred shower curtains with your face on it (or that awesome Periodic Table of Superheroics), are priced depending on quantity, with a delivery spread of four to eight weeks.

Something almost everybody wants to be able to achieve is a bathroom renovation that doesn’t raid the savings. So, we have decided to give you some advice and guidance alongside some clever budget bathroom ideas on how to give your bathroom a completely new look without having to strip the whole room and hopefully not emptying your pockets along the way.

Sometimes it’s a simple change of style to give your bathroom the new look you’ve been waiting for. This means you don’t need to consult plumbers and designers to transform your bathroom, you just need the right guidance.

First things first, you have to really clean that room. If you’re going to give your bathroom a new personality you’re going to have to start from scratch. This means taking out anything in there that you don’t need like old towels, accessories and clothes. Now that is out of the way we can get on with the fun stuff.

Bathroom Walls and Floor

Shop floor and <a href=wall tiles online at Victorian Plumbing" title="Shop floor and wall tiles online at Victorian Plumbing" src="https://images.victorianplumbing.co.uk/images/Victoria-Metro-Wall-Tiles---Gloss-Black---20-x-10cm-Pack-of-50-d1.jpg" width="304" height="304" />Shop floor and wall tiles online at Victorian Plumbing - click the picture above

Tiling the whole room can be time consuming and costly if you're looking for a budget bathroom, a good way to give your walls a new look is to simply give it a new lick of paint. You can, however, use a small amount of tiling that will make a big difference by making a feature of your basin with splash back tiling. This can completely transform the look of your basin. Remember that if you want a naturally curvy effect use small tiles that can easily manipulate corners.

If you want to give your floor a bit of a revamp without ripping out the current floor a good option is to choose a large bath mat / bath rug. A bath mat is ideal for wet areas of the bathroom, such as next to the bath, whereas a more expensive rug will go in the drier spaces to add colour and style.

Bathroom Fixtures

Shop showers online at Victorian PlumbingShop showers online at Victorian Plumbing - click the picture above

This is an important one to think about, because you may think that you can’t possibly make that much of a difference in your bathroom without changing the fixtures, but you can with a few small changes. A great example of this is changing the shower head instead of the shower itself, this will not only give it a new look but a new feel when having a shower.

If you think your bath or basin is looking tired and dull, try changing the taps for a new style, with a huge range of taps available you’ll be sure to find a new style to revive them.

Bathroom Lighting

If you have particularly heavy curtains or blinds covering the window in your bathroom you will be losing out on a lot of light that could potentially bring the room to life. Lack of natural light wouldn't make any bathroom look drab an sad, so your new budget bathroom will need lots of it. We suggest going for a thinner and lighter material which a generally quite cheap to buy.

Also consider bringing in some artificial light for those night time soaks. A great way to do this is to introduce some LED bathroom lights to create a spa like ambience, and they are energy efficient so you save your pennies throughout the year.

Bathroom Accessories

Shower curtains are one of those products where you get what you pay for, so if you're looking for a beautiful budget bathroom, we recommend this is one of the places where to spend the money you've saved elsewhere. Choose a shower curtainwith a thicker, heavier fabric, as it will hang better. We also recommend choosing a patterned shower curtain with a design such as the one above. This will add a personal touch and can really brighten up any showering area.

By now your budget bathroom will be looking great, but it might still be looking a bit bare on the counter-tops (if you listened to me at the start and threw away everything you didn’t need). So now is your chance to give your bathroom some personality and begin to make a unique space just for you. You can bring in new colours that your bathroom hasn’t seen before, small plants to give it a natural feel (planted orchids work best as they last for much longer than cut flowers) or even a little piece of art or sculpture that gives your bathroom a makeover and makes it feel a little more special.

How to Decorate a Long and Narrow Bathroom | Home Guides

Read article : How to Decorate a Long and Narrow Bathroom | Home Guides
A <a href=clear glass shower door helps a bathroom feel larger." title="Thomas Northcut/Photodisc/Getty Images" />

A clear glass shower door helps a bathroom feel larger.

A long, narrow bathroom can feel small and closed in. Even if you can't change the actual size of the room, you can make it feel more open and spacious. Removing the clutter and keeping accessories to a minimum makes a small bathroom look and feel larger. The colors, textures and patterns used to decorate a bathroom can create the visual illusion of a wider, more balanced space.

Walls and Ceiling

Light paint colors such as beige, white, gray or pastels tend to make a room appear larger. Apply a paint color that's two or three shades darker than the wall color to the short wall at the end of a long, narrow bathroom. The darker color makes the end wall appear to recede, creating the illusion of width. Hang a piece of artwork on the short wall to provide a focal point. Make a ceiling appear more lofty by painting it white. Another option is to choose a ceiling color that's two or three shades lighter than the longer wall color. Hanging a single large mirror on a wall opposite a window provides a scenic reflection to help expand the room. Avoid hanging a number of small mirrors around the room. This can create confusing spatial illusions.

Windows and Floors

Natural light streaming through the windows helps brighten a long, narrow bathroom, making it feel more open. Remove existing window coverings and clean the windows to allow a sparkling view to the outdoors. Avoid window treatments designed to hang outside the window frame, such as curtains or draperies; they take up additional wall space to make a narrow bathroom look even thinner. Window film is ideal for providing an unobstructed view to the outdoors, protecting against ultraviolet rays and providing privacy. It also doesn't take up any physical space in your long, narrow bathroom. White, wooden blinds with 2-inch slats are designed to fit snugly inside a window frame while allowing you to alter the direction and amount of natural light with the twist of a wand. Natural-woven bamboo shades can be custom fitted to hang inside your window frame to add a natural element to your small bathroom.

Vanity and Shower

Painting your vanity the same color as your walls helps blend the two to create a uniform, wider appearance. Add shiny chrome handles and knobs to vanity drawers and cabinet doors to add a sparkling touch to the space. Clear glass shower doors provide a more spacious feel to a long, narrow bathroom by directing your eyes through the glass and into the shower area. When your bathroom requires a shower curtain, choose a lightweight white, neutral or pastel fabric curtain to avoid a visually heavy look that dark-colored, thick shower curtains can convey. Pull a shower curtain to one side to open up the shower area when it's not in use.

Lights and Accessories

Providing adequate lighting in a long, narrow bathroom is essential to avoid a dismal, dark space. Installing a skylight or additional windows help bring the outdoors inside a small bathroom. Recessed ceiling lights and track lighting provide much-needed light without taking up wall space that may make a bathroom appear even narrower. Decorative wall sconces above a vanity supply necessary light for grooming activities without protruding into a narrow bathroom walkway. Keep accessories to a bare minimum -- such as a single vase of flowers or potted greenery on top of your countertop, a trash can tucked under the vanity or in a corner, and folded towels stacked neatly on built-in shelves or in a wicker basket. Placing decorative items on the floor in a narrow bathroom clutters up the physical walkway and visual space.

Cheap DIY Projects for the Bathroom - Joe Knows Blog

Read article : Cheap DIY Projects for the Bathroom - Joe Knows Blog

Joe KnowsDo you dream of having a luxurious spa-like bathroom but lack the funds for a complete remodel? Luckily for you, there are a few easy, cheap, and quick ways to transform your current bathroom into the luscious oasis of your dreams. Just pick your color scheme, grab a few simple tools, and head to the bathroom for the most inexpensive-yet-comprehensive bathroom DIY ever.

Replace the Old Mirror

mirror

Replacing the old mirror is an easy and cheap way to offer the whole bathroom a new look. Choose a mirror that looks nice with your new color pattern and decide whether you'd like an ornate one or a simplistic one. Ornate mirrors work best in traditional or olden-style rooms, while modern looks call for a simple design with a modest or absent frame. Measure the area -Advertisement-

you have to hang the mirror before you buy to assure it will fit and look nice.

Paint an Accent Wall

Even the smallest bathrooms can sport a trendy accent wall to add visual interest. Choose the wall you would like to display prominently, such as the wall behind the vanity. Paint this wall in a contrasting color to the rest of the bathroom. For instance, try a bright yellow wall with a green bathroom or a purple wall with a white bathroom. Pick colors that enhance your mood or help you relax, whichever emotion you'd like to evoke during your bath or shower time. Morning showers are more invigorating amidst bright orange or yellow walls, while evening baths are more relaxing cuddled in blue or green walls.

Paint the Vinyl Flooring

It's not necessary to replace the vinyl flooring in order to get a whole new look for the bathroom. Use a quality primer over the existing vinyl flooring, paint it with the color(s) you choose, and seal the paint with several coats of polyurethane. You can even embellish the floor with designs such as tile, stone, stencil or a checkered pattern.

If you're using bold designs on the floor, it's best to keep the walls simple, so the room doesn't get too busy. However, if you select a simple pattern, you can use it on the floor as well as the walls for a unique look. Try creating an ivy wonderland or a tropical jungle in your bathroom, if you dare.

Make Your Own Custom Shower Curtain

Custom shower curtains cost hundreds of dollars, but you can get the same thing by making one yourself. Measure the shower curtain rod and double that measurement. Then add two inches per side (left to right) and five inches top to bottom. This gives you the amount of fabric you need to buy.

Hem the fabric by 1 inch on the left and right sides, and along the bottom. Fold down 2 inches along the top and use it to make a loop to thread the shower curtain rod through. VoilĂ ! You have a custom-made shower curtain for just a few bucks.

Replace Old Hardware

Replacing the hinges, knobs, and handles on the vanity (not to mention the towel racks) are some more quick bathroom makeovers to consider. You can then match the new hardware to the new look or theme of your bathroom. When shopping for towel racks, consider one that will accommodate oversized bath towels like the ones used in spas.

Then you can truly create a spa-like experience in your bathroom. Remove the old hardware before painting and put the new hardware in after painting, so you don't damage the new paint with the installation.

Create Your Own Framed Prints for the Walls

vaseshelf

Beautiful framed prints are also costly, but you can make your own with cheap frames and pictures from calendars, old magazines, or books. Look for frames and magazines at the thrift store or garage sales. Cheap frames are also available at the dollar store. If you like, create a set of framed prints for each season of the year so you can change them up frequently and not get tired of them as quickly.

Now there is only one thing left to do: fill the tub, light some candles, add your favorite bubble bath, and enjoy your new creation!

How to Get Rid of Mold And Mildew

How to get rid of mold and mildew

I started by tossing the mats and fabric shower curtains and cotton shower curtain liner in the washing machine and hanging them out on the line, where the sunshine emerged to do its mold-killing magic. If your curtain is a bit musty, you may want to give it a presoak for a few hours, or even overnight, in a bucket of water with a cup of white vinegar added before tossing it into the washer.

Then, I tackled the grout. No matter how diligent you are at giving your bathroom its weekly once-over (and I am very not diligent), the joints where one material meets another are prone to dirt buildup and mildew. A number of natural cleaners are equal to the challenge, but the type and condition of your grout, tile, and other surfaces need to be taken into consideration when you select one so you don’t damage them. Also, steer clear of scrubby pads if you have materials that could be scratched (my surfaces are tough and were marred long before I owned them, so I don’t sweat a little more scrubbing once in a while to get rid of mold. If yours can also take the abuse, you can even use epsom salt to scrub grout).

(Here are two easy ways to clean a cast iron pan!)

A good basic cleaner to start with is baking soda dissolved in water for spraying or sponging (1/8 cup per quart of water), sprinkled dry on a damp sponge, or made into a paste with a little water for tough areas. Baking soda has been found to kill certain types of mildew, and for the types it can't kill, its mild abrasiveness allows you to scrub the stuff away. It's safe for most surfaces, but you might want to test a small area first if you have any doubts. Apply the baking soda, either in spray or paste form, leave it alone for an hour or so, and then scrub with a soft brush (a retired toothbrush is my favorite). Wipe and rinse well when finished. (Here are 9 more surprising uses for baking soda.)

White vinegar or lemon juice (full strength or mixed with half water) are also good for cleaning mildew-stained grout, but they are acidic and can start to eat away at grout as well as certain hard-surface finishes, so be sure to rinse completely; neither is a good choice for natural marble. To use, sponge on, scrub with a soft brush, and rinse. If you can’t get your grout clean with either of these cleaners, you may want to consider looking for a company that offers professional steam cleaning, which is nontoxic and very effective. Just make sure the company is clear that you don’t want toxic chemicals used.

In areas where mildew is a chronic problem, you can keep it from growing by applying citrus or tee-tree oil regularly. Put 10 drops of lemon, orange, grapefruit, or tea tree oil and a few drops of dish soap into an empty quart spray bottle, add warm water almost to the top, and slosh to mix. Spray down areas that are prone to mildew once a week or so. (Here are more essential ingredients for making all of your own cleaning products.)

How to get rid of hard water stains

Depending on the dissolved minerals in your water, you too may get white, gray, or even rusty stains on bathroom surfaces. If I had a magic bullet that would get rid of hard water stains with no effort, I’d be a millionaire, but I don't. However, with a little trial and error and even more elbow grease, you can take care of soap scum and mineral deposits as effectively with natural products as you could with the latest toxic panacea being pushed on TV (which probably isn’t nearly as effective as they want you to believe it is anyway).

Related: The Only 10 Things You Need To Buy To Make All Your Own Natural Cleaning Products

As with grout, baking soda is a good basic cleaner to start with: Use it dissolved in water for spraying or sponging, sprinkled as is on a damp sponge, or as a paste for tough areas. Apply baking soda to your surface, let it sit for an hour or so, and then remove it with a soft cloth or brush.

Related: How To Wash Your Car Without Nasty Chemicals Or Wasting Water

If baking soda isn’t up to your challenges, vinegar is quite effective at dissolving soap scum and removing hard water stains. Sponge it on full strength (or mixed half and half with water), wipe with a sponge or soft cloth, and then rinse well. To remove hard-water buildup from showerheads, remove the showerhead and let it soak in undiluted vinegar for a few hours while you're cleaning. Vinegar works because it is acidic, but for the same reason it can also eat into grout or damage the finish of marble, tile, and other surfaces. Check with the manufacturer for advice or test it in an inconspicuous area. (Here are 9 times you should never use vinegar around the house.)

Should both of those fail, a good next step is a product called Bar Keepers Friend (the dry, powdered type). Its active ingredient is oxalic acid, a natural chemical found in rhubarb leaves and various other plants. It is very good at dissolving mineral deposits, even rust stains, without a lot of scrubbing. Just remember that even though it is natural, it can still hurt you if you ingest it, or get in on your skin or in your eyes, so be sure to follow the simple label cautions. (Here are 12 more household toxins you should banish from your home.)

A few other alternatives are Bon Ami cleanser, powdered pumice or a pumice stone, or even very fine wet/dry sandpaper. But as with any other cleaning method, test a small area first to make sure they won't damage surfaces.

Villa with breathtaking views where the elements have been carefully curated

Location: Tala, India
Year: 2016
Area: 2.421 ft²/ 225 m²

Description:

“The Tree Villa perches on the cliff of a 160 acre hilltop ‘treesort’ property surrounded by a meandering river landscape. The idyllic setting in Tala on the West coast of India, is a stone’s throw away from the Kuda caves. Nearly 20 centuries ago, Buddhist monks instinctively understood the qualities of this meditative landscape and made the hills their home. The Tree Villa was conceived as a celebration of this landscape by creating a series of blurred transitional spaces with different levels of transparency and openness within this forested tropical setting.

Upon arrival, a timber bridge takes the visitor off the forest floor on to a large stilted deck that wraps around the house and culminates on a viewing platform. The constant reminder of breathtaking views enhances a reflective ambience that is mirrored throughout the house.

The architectural elements of the house have been carefully curated, each conveying a message of its own: the bathroom enclosure is crafted out of vertical timber slats filled in with mirrored panels that reflect the surrounding forest and the other forms occupying the space.

They are abstractly reminiscent of tree branches that droop, giving nature opportunities to peek through within a constantly animated shadow play of hide and seek.

The horizontal openness and airiness of the large voluminous space below a dominating thatched roof is emphasized by wrapping it with a layer of operable glass. The curved corners of this glazed wooden framework display a panoramic exhibit of nature. The curves create a sensual kind of luxury and bring softness to the space. A second layer of a tie dyed bordered sheer curtains filters the harsh light during the midst of the day and nestles three other enclosures as well.

The villa accommodates 4 adults and 2 children. The functions included provide for two double beds, a loft bed for children, two bathrooms, a lounge, a place for breakfast or paying board games with an outdoor deck and a large viewing deck. Rather than compartmentalizing those activities into distinct rooms, the main space is broken up by three smaller enclosures that are positioned within it, ensuring a visual connection to the forest in multiple directions from all rooms: a pantry-cum-loft unit, a semi-outdoor bathroom and a curtained bed enclosure act as anchors and define interstitial zones such as the breakfast room and the lounge. The free flowing circulation in between creates visual permeability across the plan.

As smaller spaces within a larger space, the bathroom and pantry-cum-loft are enclosures made out of a wooden slatted framework and filled in with white plexiglass.

The pantry unit contains all the services of the room and a small kitchenette. The top of the unit is accessed with a wooden ladder and provides an additional bed. Looking down on the surrounding forest it is almost like a ‘pirates nest’, a great cozy hideout for young kids.

The enclosure of the semi-outdoor bathroom encloses an outdoor courtyard but also protrudes into the glazed interior space. An old Garuga fruit tree punctures the floor of the outdoor bathroom. One branch enters the room and exits again through the thatched roof. Other branches spread across the outdoor bathroom before exiting through multiple circular openings in the enclosure. A free standing bath tub and the indoor-outdoor feel of the space make it an ideal relaxed setting.

A large luxurious king size bed within a soft linen fabric enclosure can be open or closed off depending on demands of privacy.

A spiral staircase connects to a secret lower level that is suspended below the tree villa. This guest suite is on one side backed by a rock outcrop and on the other side surrounded by a thick forest. You can take a shower here with merely a curved glazed sheet separating you and the forest life around you. A timber floored outdoor deck and attached staircase invites you to take a hike in the forest.

Elements and textures as parts of the structure are focused on coexistence. The monochrome colour scheme of the space along with an eclectic mix of partly restored and partly custom designed furniture pieces give the interior a bohemian vibe. The restraint in the colour palette highlights the surrounding greenery.
