YOU test relaxing bath treats

Read article : YOU test relaxing bath treats
Every fortnight we ask four femail.co.uk readers to road-test a selection of top-selling cosmetics.

This week, our panel of testers have been pampering themselves with four relaxing bath essences, designed to help you unwind at the end of a busy day.

Anna Fox, 30, lives with her boyfriend Wayne in Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire. Anna was oblivious to the world of beauty products until her best friend bought her a bumper box of Clarins for her birthday a couple of years ago. Now she's addicted and can't resist trying out all the latest lotions and potions!

Anna tried Clarins Relax Bath and Shower Concentrate, £12.50/200ml from her favourite beauty brand. So did it live up to her expectations?

First impressions: The first thing that struck

me was the lovely smell and how and rich and luxurious the product seemed.

Results: I didn't have to use much of the concentrate in my bath, it's so highly concentrated. The fragrance filled my bathroom - it was gorgeous - and my skin was left baby soft and delicately fragranced. I felt very relaxed and pampered!

Verdict: The perfect treat for when you're feeling worn out, or under the weather.

Jane Wainwright, 43, lives in Brighouse, West Yorkshire with her husband Paul and their three children. Jane's a self-confessed glutton for anything revolutionary and new and her cupboards are always bursting with half-used beauty lotions and potions. If a magazine tells her it's good, she'll buy it!

Jane tested Origins Peace Of Mind Tension Releasing Vapour Bath, £18/150ml. But did it help her unwind?

First impressions: I'm afraid my initial reaction was shock that a bottle of bath essence so small could cost so much!

Results: The product had quite a strong menthol smell, which I found quite unusual because I'm used to very flowery fragrances in my bathroom. Although I did feel relaxed, I was a bit disappointed that there were no bubbles in my bathtub, as I'm a bit of a fan!

Verdict: A relaxing product - and the vapour would be great if you were suffering from a cold but I wouldn't spend this much money on a bath product.

Meredith Lasky, 29, lives with her boyfriend in St Ives, Cambridgeshire. Meredith loves to check out all the latest products and could easily spend all day scouring the beauty counters! Her beauty weak spots are Lancome eyeshadows and Clarins skincare.

Meredith tried out Boots Botanics Forget The Day Bath Elixir, £3.10/150ml. So did it help her to forget her aches and pains?

First impressions: The cloudy glass bottle looked great in my bathroom and I loved the warm, woody smell of the product itself.

Results: It bubbled up beautifully in the water and created a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere in my bathroom - absolutely perfect for 'forgetting the day'!

Verdict: Great value for money. I also intend to keep the bottle when it's finished and use it for storing other lotions and potions.

Helen Firth, 36, lives with her partner and their two sons in Leeds. Helen dreads the thought of looking old, so she's always on the look-out for new anti-wrinkle creams. She wears make-up every day and always tries to look as well-groomed as possible.

Helen tried out Cath Collins Bath Oil with Lime and Lavender, £14.40/100ml. Was she impressed?

First impressions: The product was presented in a very classy glass bottle and would look lovely on a dressing table or bathroom windowsill.

Results: I added a small amount to my bath and was hit by the gorgeous smell. The results on my skin were good too. It felt soft and smooth and smelt lovely for hours.

Verdict: Expensive but perfect for a special occasion, when you want your skin to gleam and smell delicious.
